Figured out an easy solution for a 10" subwoofer under the center seat of a NON-HYBRID.

    1. Purchase an Audison APBX10DS subwoofer enclosure.

    2. Remove your seats to get the underseat tray out.

    3. Then remove a section of plastic on the rear-facing section of the underseat tray to take advantage of the depth behind the seats.

    4. Slide in the APBX10DS thru the hole you cut and push it as far back as you can and then wire it up.

    5. Put the seats back in.

The enclosure fits perfectly between the seat support brackets and when pushed all the way rearward really wedges itself in nice and secure. There's approximately 1.5" between the grill and the bottom of the seat.

Once I get the system completely installed I'll post some more pics on here. All this flimsy plastic trim is gonna need some sound deadener and maybe some felt to keep the rattles to a minimum.

I looked at the behind the seat boxes available, but don't like the finished product cause you can't install the OEM back trim. Looks like shit to me that way. Figured this was way easier and probably sounds a lot better since the manufacturer tuned/built this box for their sub. If your heart is set on 2 subs you could probably fit another one under the seats, but thats overkill for me.

interesting, but I don't really think thats plug and play, plug and play means no cutting, no splicing, etc.

update with more pics are you move along, Im getting close to doing something with all my audio stuff I have from my last truck

Yeah you're absolutely right. I guess I was happy that I could get a 10 in the truck without losing a ton of storage or having to remove the back wall trim and considered it a plug and play solution. But still, some hand tools to remove everything and an exacto knife to cut the plastic bin is pretty freaking easy...even for an unskilled mechanic. Could be plug and play if you just stuck the box in the bin, but you would lose a significant amount of storage then.

Why not put it right where the stick sub goes behind the passenger rear seat ?

that way you lose no underseat storage

Not enough volume in that area. My first plan was to build a wedge box to fit in that stock area, but there is barely any depth available in the stock location to allow a 10" sub to fit. I don't know what the stock JBL subwoofer setup is, but it must be a small 8" or 6 1/2" sub with a super-short voice coil. Plus that area behind the stock subwoofer is a difficult complex shape with the way the steel frame is behind there. You would have to be a patient man to build an enclosure to squeak out all the volume you could.

stock sub blows and isn’t even in a sealed enclosure, useless

I’m going to shove my JL 10 back there somewhere , we’ll see, haven’t dove into it much yet

Problem with any sub behind the seat is the mounting depth. Not a lot room to work with back there, not to mention the way the seat frame, seatbelt reels, and the rear window hardware make it such irregular shapes to build a box around. Then of course you have the issue of fitting the OEM trim around everything, unless that's not important.

Under the seat, the Audison 10 APBX ($400) fits with room to spare. The 10" Hertx MPBX250 enclosure ($680) is the same relative dimensions as the APBX, but with a much better designed box. There might even be room to squeeze in the 12" Hertz MPBX300, which I'm guessing would give better punch than any two subs squeezed behind the seats.

Where are you seeing those prices at? Cheapest I'm seeing APBX10DS is like $479.00. Care to share a link?

I worked a really good deal using the chat function of these audio retailer websites during the Black Friday and CyberWeek sales. They all sell the same stuff and have healthy profit margins so they are willing to wheel and deal from my experience. I put together and entire Audison system with 5 channel amp, 6.5 component sets for the doors, the APBX10DS, amp wiring kit, and a subwoofer control knob and then worked the chat/email function with the customer service reps to get a discount. The retailer I purchased from gave me a discount for CyberWeek coupled with my military discount since I was purchasing an entire bundle. Saved me almost 20% off the prices online.

All three of these retailers will give you 10% off by basically just asking.

You could easily attach the sub to the JBL system. Just purchase a subwoofer amp that accepts speaker level inputs and then unplug the stock JBL subwoofer wires and connect them to the inputs on the amp. Or you could use a line out converter to convert the speaker level signal from the JBL subwoofer to low-level RCA output and then connect that to an amplifier of your choice.

I'm connecting my entire system with the TacTunes wiring harness set. The first harness runs the stock speaker signal all the way to the rear of the truck where they will plug into the inputs on my amp. Then the second harness runs the amplified outputs back up to the OEM harness behind the dash and then out to the speakers via the OEM wiring. My 5-channel amp sums the 4-channel OEM signal to build the separate sub-channel output.
