You may find the info in the "big 3" thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/04-sequoia’s-150-amp-alternator-swap-on-a-00-tundra-the-3-big-upgrades.67222/

Well, looks like starting some time around May/June they're shutting down my office, so no more commute for me. Not that my 3-4 mile/15 min commute was much of anything, and I was only going in 2-3 days a week anyway, but ...

I can only hope my job is not far behind the office closure. I'm not-so-secretly dying for them to pay me to leave.

I read through that thread and didn't see anything indicating donor years.

The online parts catalogues indicate 2003 being the first year it was offered.
An unknown Denso reman goes for $132 and a new Denso go for $232.79 with the core charge. Not bad for the peace of mind of having a brand new Alternator.

Just ride out that remote work for as long as you can stand it. Don't most employees spend the majority of the day on reddit and tundras.com anyway? Severance pay would be sweet though.

    No comment

Seriously though, I've had my head trenched deep in data input lately for a huge cloud inventory project we've got going on. Hoping to close it out before year-end. I'm definitely taking occasional surf breaks, and sometimes I'm on here quite a bit when meetings pop up or I need a mental break (catch myself making more than 2-3 mistakes in 20-30 mins). Definitely not sitting on here though. Tundras.com has been a respite to help get my brain off some of the tedious, difficult shit I need to deal with daily, though.

To the members with access cab camper shells, when you get a chance, please take a few measurements of your shell. Width and length at the bottom, at least. I have my bed measurements and I want to see exactly what the caps measure.

There are several I come across searching that don’t have a truck model listed, but show measurements. I don’t want to miss out on one that will actually fit just because the guy doesn’t know what truck it came off of. Thank you.

P.S. This might be good information to also have in the Camper Shells thread for future searches.

EDIT: Or even good information to have in @shifty` s n00b bomb dropping MEGA THREAD:)

My wife and I both work mostly remote. I can tell you it varies. During 2020-2021 my wife was working a solid 45 hours/week at home with no lunch break. I'd have to remind her to eat. Now she's a little bored some days because her industry(real estate) has slowed down.

My remote job has days where I'm either slammed or bored.

I did have a remote job for a while where they only gave me enough work for about 5-8 hours a week. I hated that. I have friends that work for the government as laborers and they manage to clock overtime while not actually working. It's amazing.

    Remote work is awesome though.

I need the socialization, honestly. It’s gonna suck if/when we go full remote.

I worked remote ish once. I say ish because I would be the only person from my company on site for months on end. The owner would swing through every once in a blue moon to shake some babies and kiss some hands with the admin team.

It was nearly a decade ago when I was a paramedic. I scored a gig being a site medic for wind turbine installations. Maybe once a month I actually did anything that someone with basic first aid knowledge couldn't handle. Most of the time I managed hangovers (mine and the crew's) and BS'd with the guys most of the day. That is when I wasn't losing my shirt trying to day trade, and online shopping for a bunch of shit I didn't need.

Going into it I thought I had won the lottery. It tripled my annual income, and reduced my workload by about 100% but it was actually hell. The requirement to be on site coupled with almost zero workload ended up driving me insane.

The closest town was always some podunk population 10,000 type place, thousands of miles from "home", and without fail had always had some archaic beer and liquor laws. You will get get fat as fuck eating to fill the void in yourself, and getting drunk on 3.2% beer every night.

It got very office spacey at the end. Finally one day I called the owner and said "Im leaving in three days whether you have my replacement here or not." and that was that. Hardest easy money I ever made.

My current role is remote work with frequent travel about the US and Canada. My new role will be mostly remote work with (hopefully) drastically reduced and much more predictable travel about the US, Canada and some international travel to Europe and hopefully Asia. I don’t mind the remote work with no looming bosses or unnecessary meetings.

Paid international travel is a solid perk. Most meetings could be an email.

I couldn't work from home. The only reason I dropped out of college is when the rona hit all classes went online. I just don't have the willpower to make myself sit there and work. I could do the homework fine, but can't sit through lessons. The ADD is strong with this one.

But yeah, work is now me sitting in a job trailer answering phone calls and emails, and going to meetings. I walk through the job a few times a day. So I'm on here a lot more.

A portion of my Paramedic program was online, it nearly caused me to fail out of the program. One of my instructors finally convinced me to do the bare minimum so that I wouldn't. It kept me from graduating at the top of my class, but IDGAF.

Also in grade school when part of the homework was a crossword search. No thanks. I'll take that 0.

Jobsite trailers are so depressing. I think its the beige/gray color pallet and all the plastic folding tables. If I ever worked out of one again I would have to add some color to the walls or something.

Shit, I can't work from home for my job and was still going to work as normal when rona hit. I wish I could, it would save me a lot of gas money with my commute.

The wife works fully remote and it's actually pretty nice. When she had to drive to Atlanta I always worried about her. Interstate wreck, tire blow out or just really anything. Knowing that she's able to work from home and be safe is a blessing for my nerves, ha.

It's the main reason I got to see the world, working for a European company. Which was humbling, definitely changed my perspective on life. Something powerful about being really far from home, not having the comfort of your native language for reading/communicating.

I know a lot of people who are probably too weak to expose themselves to that level of vulnerability, and I'm glad I'm not one of those people. I got to experience a lot of cool af, life-changing shit as a result, and learned some powerful life lessons abroad.

Speaking of not being able to come to work. I was thinking to myself, "Damn, isn't it about time for @JasonC. to come back yet?"

Guess it's only been like 2 weeks. Homey doesn't get to come back until the day after Christmas. Well bro, you're missed. Wish they'd have made it 1wk or 2wks but ... meh.

Leer makes the 100R I've got in a way that it has a "flare" at the bottom, so the measurements are a little weird. It lends to a little "point" in the spot I've circled here. You can see that overhang HERE, it's substantial, another shot showing how it sets over the plastic bedrail to conceal it HERE.

Because of that my measurements are different. Realistically, most caps for AC trucks are 67x78 or 68x78. With that extra point poking forward and the added width of that flare-out, I'm more like 68.5 x 78.75 so I could see someone calling that 69x79 in an advert.

One dead giveaway to know a cap isn't for our trucks, you'll find most 1GT caps have more angle forward / where they meet the cab. Seems like GM/Dodge specifically don't have similar, if memory serves. Nissan Frontier, some older F150 do. Sometimes you can disqualify on that alone.

I actually prefer working remotely. There are very few people I want to go in and socialize with nowadays. Most have either retired or moved on since a few years back. I actually sort of resent having to go onsite and attend a meeting.

i do feel bad for the younger guys though. Not an environment you want to start working in professionally with nobody there to help.

I do get a kick out of my boss trying to encourage me to go in and “mentor” someone. How is that supposed to help me? Been there, done that. Doesn’t exactly get me promoted.

I’m stuck working remote since we moved. I’d rather be in the office at least a few days a week. The only reason I’m still at this company is the 2-3 guys I really like who have stuck around.

I’m hoping my new shop space provides a much needed transition between home and work. Right now it’s so seamless that it’s impossible to separate the two.

Can anyone with a 03 to 06 tell me what direction their rad fan spins looking at it from the drivers seat?

I would think counter-clockwise when looking at it standing in front of your truck. The fan blades need to suck air through the radiator.

Exactly Jack, and it's obvious with the direction of the fan blades.
What's F'ed up is I see clutches on rockauto for 00-02 V8 listed as clkwise, and 03-up V8 listed as CntrClockwise.
But the OEM Toyota parts lists clearly show a fan blade for 03, 04, and up with the same part number as the one for my 00. Which would be wrong if 03 and above spun the opposite direction.
Anyone smellin what I'm steppin in?

Edit: What difference does this make? About $150 savings getting a fan (Aisin) that isn't 00-02 but will fit perfectly.
