Pretty unimpressed with the fuel economy. My wife’s truck is a 23 platinum with trd lift and 35” tires. She gets mid 13 on the dash. My truck is a 24 limited off road with about 1k miles. My dash reads 13.9 and when checked the math the last time I filled the truck it was actually about 13.5. Granted, I short trip, idle a lot, and feed the turbos when i feel like it. These trucks suck fuel but that’s what it takes to make power. They both haul ass so I’m good with it. :burnrubber:

Most that are unimpressed start with “I have a small lift and 35s” and end it with “I use my remote start every morning, idle a lot and drive stop and go city traffic”. “But my F150 or my Silverado got 21mpg doing it.”

Drove from Ft Lauderdale to Western NC in a single sitting yesterday. Horrible weather the entire trip. Lot's of wind and rain. 20.5MPG at 70-80MPH.
Buc-ee's Daytona was packed. It looked like Walmart the day before a hurricane.

I bought a truck, not expecting great gas milage, AGREED.

BUT, why advertise this i-Force Max hybrid BS when the best MPG I ever seem to get is around 18-19 MPG? Every now and again, I chuckle when I look at my fuel economy gauge to see the gauge max reading is 60MPG. In a best case scenario, I would only be able to fill 1/3 of that gauge. I just don't think the design team truly thought that out thoroughly. No one likes to have something presented, but to only know that they can only achieve 1/3 of it--at least not me.

@Mattedfred are you driving on the highway downhill both ways to work with a tailwind? Using ECO mode and keeping the speed at 50 mph? No idling or accelerations?

The trick with this engine is to limit the turbo spooling. If your turbos are whizzing away, so is your gas.

Mine is running about 12 mpg but that is city driving with a trailer attached.

Just put in fresh air filters ($60!) and got 23.5mpg @ 65 mph over 20 highway miles…old filters didn’t even look that dirty. For those getting terrible mpg might want to check em!

I just went 210 km averaging 115km/hr on the highway. 17.2L/100km. I had large heavy tires on my 2020 and it wasn’t this bad on fuel.

Yup. I’m in the list of 242 Gen3 owners on Fuelly logging miles/fuel ups.

We’re down in So Cal for the Winter and the gas blend, traffic, and traffic lights every 1/8th of a mile kills the mpg. Can’t beat 15. Can’t wait to go back to WA where I get 18 around town and 22 Hwy. Gonna add a RAV4 to the barn in ‘24

Have you played around with a code reader on your phone yet to read live data while driving? I’m not going to use it all the time but am watching Trans and Motor oil temps, Boost, Oil Pressure and Gear Position. Interesting to see how this truck runs. Anxious to use this on our coming 1200 mi trip back to WA over 3 major Mtn passes. (I’m using the free App - Car Scanner)

Thx for sharing. My truck runs like crap on Ampol Diesel - lol/jk. Wouldn’t diesel be a great option tho. Like you, I’m in Eco mode 100% so far (Haven’t had a load or tow yet) Found no mpg gain in Norm mode like some report. Eco keeps the revs and turbo pressure down = more mpg.

Yeah, that’s what I got from google too, are you driving up hill both ways with low tire pressure and dirty air filters or something? Bad gas?

40 psi round trip so if up hill one way it would be down the other. Put gas in at 1/2 way also. Truck has 3,000 km on it. I blame it on the 69lb falken tires but still it’s terrible.

    What size are the tires?
My fuel economy is far from great but I am not getting numbers like that.
