Figured I would start this thread so it's easier to add to later.

Purchased a 2016 TRD PRO from a dealer in SoCal in December 2023. This is my 4th Toyota and first Truck.

119k miles, no service records beyond what was on Carfax. It was a trade-in leased work truck that started its life in Canada, was in Montana for 6 months, then ended up in California.

In typical "831mic" fashion, I take the first 2-3 months after the purchase to turn it into "my own" truck.

So... join me, in getting this machine reset on maintenance and turning this into a family adventure mobile that is both utilized as a truck and family adventuremobile (camping, dirt biking, etc).

    Cheers,

    mic

Drop my RSB mounting hardware off at the powder coater today, they said it'd take about a week.

Billy 5160s came in yesterday too. Thanks to Hotshot Offroad (tundras.com vendor) for the hookup.

Did a few things this weekend:

    • Changed rear diff oil
    • Change transfer case oil
    • Line-X'd the box

When I got under the truck to check out the transfer case, I saw that it was caked with oil and grime. The skid plate over the transfer case was also pretty banged up, looking like it took a direct hit and had pushed the plate up against the TC.

I removed the skid plate and cleaned up a bit of the transfer case before I did the drain/fill. I'll monitor it for the next few weeks to see where it's leaking from. I'm thinking the seal behind the shift solenoid or input (or output) shaft. :( If anyone has any feedback on that, please share.

Tires showed up today. 295/70r18 Falken Wildpeaks, and they even have the 3P rating (i was afraid the LT tires didn't have them).

New front wheel well splash guards came in too. For some reason the previous owner didn't have them on here.

    Wheels come in on Thursday.

Are those wheels the titanium color? I’ve been curious how they look on white. Considering a wheel change when it’s time for new tires as the black wheels are growing old on me.

Yup yup. They should go nicely with the grey Softtopper.

I'll post pics once I get them on the truck.

Ordered my gray softopper. Here's to hoping they ship within the advertised "1 business day". Best case it's here Friday, worst case it's here Monday.

It's raining for the next 6 days, but, I wanted to try to get the softopper on.

I still need to install the front window buttons and rear support bar, but it's coming together.

Hoping to get the rest of it done tomorrow, and the wheels installed.

Changed out the spark plugs today @ 121k miles. That driver side and passenger front spark plugs are in a tight spot. 1h30m later... done.

Installed the driver side door handle. Easiest "car mod" ever.

Notched the plastic for the cable, got the hardware from Ace, and badaboom badabing. Done.

I installed the Airbag kit today, and rotated all 5 tires. I'll be towing a 24' TT soon, and I wanted to make sure I wasn't squatting. Set to 10PSI for normal driving, and will see how they feel.
