We use it at work. Super powerful tool for sure..

 

Not without limitations. And 99% of people at work just use it as a stupid version of “excel in the cloud” and then bitch that they can’t format the columns and merge cells.
But for standing up a quick web form to get data into a table, it works.

OK - another kiddo update.
She is HOME!
It's been a long exhausting 11 days. We've got a long recovery road in front of us still, but the 40 minute drive to/from the hospital and trading shifts with my wife and everything else is at least behind us.
Working on getting things rounded up to make it easier to care for her and for her to have some independence in her room while she's still mostly resting in her bed.

thats awesome to hear. I have a platinum but just ordered a regular trim piece with the pocket (hoping its a direct replacement) and printed one of the panels myself. Thank you for making it available. My 3d printer isnt fully dialed in but the parts where it didn't come out great are at the bottom anyways so no big deal.

Also, glad to hear your daughter is back home. hope she has a speedy recovery!

 

Casey, two questions...

What did you use to cut the hole out of the center console for switch plate (I know it's not visible and doesn't need to be perfect); I just don't want to break/crack it trying to make the cuts...

Also, for a future project...

Would you be able to 3D print something that could be used to securely fill in the tray on top of the center console arm rest??

I'd want to be able to have it covered w/leather or something similar so it's not a slick surface. I prefer the solid lid on my '08 for both resting forearms and when my dogs are stepping on/over it

Yes, the trim piece will be a direct replacement. If you’ve done the chrome delete (AJT or MESO), you will need to move that over of course.

I’m actually test-printing a platinum insert now - at least the first draft. Waiting for the actual piece to arrive to develop the instructions and fine-tune the fit. Trying to decide exactly how I want to retain it.

 

You’ve got several options here. The plastic is ABS, so not super hard and not brittle.

One option is an oscillating tool (price varies by brand) with a small saw blade.

Another option is to drill a hole in each corner (~1/4” drill bit) and then use a jig saw, keyhole saw, or even a utility knife to cut between the corner holes. If you are using a utility knife, don’t try to cut it through in one cut (I have a decent scar in my chest from trying to do that once while cutting toward myself). Rather, make a series of scoring cuts at medium pressure until you cut fully through.

 

This is a little trickier. I do have a friend with a hand-held scanner I could borrow to do some detailed scanning of that insert. There would be a lot of R&D and test prints that would need to go into it though. And the wild card is dealing with the thickness of the leather and how to accommodate that.

 

I used a multi-tool when I did mine. Doesn't have to be perfect, just big enough to work.
