I’ve had a few beers but I’m pretty certain that’s not blocks. It just looks like very poorly formed concrete.

 

Saw a 05 or 06 2 tone Luchesse DC 2wd Limited with sunroof and handicap plates for private sale today while out driving around. Dude only wanted 8k for it. I stopped and peeked in the windows and it looked really clean.

To me this is one of those “I have no idea what I have, but it’s old and I want to get rid of it” kind of sales.

I know this post is worthless without pics but I could stop by and get some if anyone is seriously interested.

 

I figured you were the one interested since you know how to convert it to 4wd and you mentioned your truck might be totalled by insurance rat bastids

 

Totaling it is pretty much out of the question. My homie that runs the body shop is taking care of me. Nothing shady, but I pretty much told him that I’m willing to put forth cash if I need to in order to avoid a salvage.

I’ve got baby girl numero uno due here in about 4-5 weeks so I just want my GD truck back.

It didn’t help much that I know today was the day that I bought this truck 14 years ago.

 

I have a 512G now. I can just add the m.2, right?

 

And yeah, I've been sick since Thursday and it's been passing me off. I started running a fever that Friday, and Thursday I developed a nasty dry cough. I had butt pee 4 times on Friday, and 7 times yesterday. I'm awake at 4 am for some reason and had butt pee again. The fever seems to be subsiding, but it maybe the alcohol talking.

 

Something similar (minus the diarrhea) hit my whole family.

Also, just realized the other day my power seats go ALL THE WAY BACK, like you can lay dang-near flat.

I had that same virus back in late July. Missed my sister's bday party because I was so sick and miserable. Even went to urgent care hoping for a Z-pak. They didn't give me shit. But they tested me for the Rona and flu. Both negs.
I remember at the time of the sickness, my taste went crazy and I couldn't stand anything too sweet or too salty. Everything tasted gross except 7up

 

Power seats, as in both seats have power? Dang.
Just my driver seat is powered.

 

Well, it's our turn for the winter fun. We're under a winter storm advisory. Supposed to get 3-6"(for us, that's a lot) and wind chills below zero. They have already started treating the main roads with that evil liquid brine.

I'm pumped. L.F.G!! I thrive on the chaos it creates here. Last year I had to pull Boomhauer up my hill. I think I mentioned before that the biggest issue with getting snow here is that our roads are so steep in places. It's not like driving in snow in the Midwest. They also don't have enough plows to do the side roads. As a kid, we would watch cars pile up at the base of the hill my mom lived near. Good times.

a couple of deaths from two falling trees. And two trees over near us as well but they aren’t threatening any of the homes. Uprooted and resting on other trees for now. Gonna have to come down I guess.

Yeah, your situation sounded really f’n weird, I’d need to hear more details. The fact it wouldn’t resolve after factory reset, and it impacted all devices is super weird. But there are so many vulnerabilities with SOHO router devices like that, if you had it directly connected to the open internet, and you’re not religiously updating the firmware, and you don’t have security figured properly, someone may’ve remotely bricked your router. There’ve been ample cases of this in the past. There was even one whitehat dude that was going around using exploits to remotely repair people’s routers that had been compromised with something nasty due to vulnerability. It’s a wild world out there, that dang ok interweb!

Uh, I believe that ultimately should be sandwiched on both sides with more substantial fasteners, and I’d prefer steel myself with carriage bolts. That’s fucked, I dunno why they didn’t replace the supports. But it’s tough to find legit deck builders. I’d also prefer to see diagonal braces Cris-crossed spanning the underside. But I’m no @BroHon, so take my words with a grain of salt.

The traction on the rear wheel isn’t close to enough to overcome plowing heavy wet snow.

And it looks like one possible repair to that cut joist could be sistering, but you'd need a support, and you have no support, so nothing to see here: https://www.decks.com/how-to/articles/sistering-or-joining-joists

Likewise, if you use a tie plate/mending plate at the seam, you'd also need a vertical support.

Reality is, the only way to properly repair that fuck-up @FirstGenVol is to replace the joist itself, which isn't absurdly difficult. I would probably be inclined to replace one at a time, then v-brace the deck as it should've been in the first place IMO.

But again, I'm no deck builder. I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express once, though.

 

It's held for 33 years so I'm not too worried about it. We'll see if BroHon roasts it. Eventually I'll have to think about replacing the entire thing. For now I'll keep it stained and check it often.

 

Yup, thats the one I had. Just getting about 70% of my smell and taste back. I didn't get tested but a sick inlaw that prob brought it for Christmas did, and Neg on the Rona.

 

Salt/Brine is bad enough, but up here when its REAL cold they will mix in some Chloride. Don't know who has worked with that shit (Calcium Chloride), but it will destroy anything leather... in 30min if you get it on it. powerful stuff.

 

(The following is just what I would do )
Yep, that cantilever is about a foot longer than recommended. Should be no more than 25% of the span of the joists.
The deck looks like 12' which would make 3'=25%. That cantilever looks like about 4' or 33% of the total span.
Does it get bouncy out on the end of that cantilever?
Is there an anchor bolt under those post mounts, or is it just those Tapcons (Cement screws) holding it down?
They do make stainless, or corrosion resistant TapCons, but those blue ones are not resistant/coated.
A little WD/or Fluid film/or similar would help, at least you don't have salting for walking/side walk.
Those scabbed in pieces, yeah they are sketchy. They look about 18-20" long, I would run them all the way back to the house, and at least 2' beyond that joint. Get (looks like 5) 6' and slap them in there... (If you remove the existing pieces) Do the removal+replacement one at a time/fully screwed in before moving on.
Those 6x6 posts are WAY better than the 4x4 they replaced, and at least one side of the beam is resting solid on the posts.
Just keep an eye on those scabbed on supports for the front side beam for movement, they do have a good amount of screws in them/ probably be fine. The 2x6 decking adds a lot of strength making the deck less bouncy, that's good.
