I'll give you that the acting is good, but the story itself was tiresome and boring IMO.

It’s about the same pace as no country for old men. I appreciate a movie that isn’t all explosions and gun fights.

It was less the pacing than the content. I can't say more without giving spoilers, and I HATE spoilers. Suffice it to say, I found the majority of the film to be forgettable and I only remember just enough to know I had felt I wasted my time.

I'll call it a western, The Highwaymen with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson. Bonny and Clyde story but from the perspective of the lawmen tracking them.

Hell or High Water also. Modern western.

i just turned 48, but for the past 5 years or so, i’ve been watching TONS of old western movies. My grandparents used to watch westerns when i was little little, and at that stage of my life i didn’t like watching them. Of course you can’t go wrong with any of the tried and true Eastwood or J dubya films, but now i really, really enjoy most all the actors as well. Henry Fonda, kirk Douglas (in The Way West), Jimmy Stewart to name just two. I really like any western with Glen Ford. He’s an incredible actor. One of my current favorites is “Valdez is Coming”. It has lots of the normal serious western drama, yet has a humorous undertone every once in a while. Burt Lancaster play the role very well. Whenever i watch that film i think of the 80’s comedy movie, “Better off Dead”. Of course i’ve watched most (if not all) of the Bonanza shows. It helped that my niece likes to watch westerns as well!

I’m not a fan of the cowboy/indian shootemup movies. It has nothing to do with recent political mumbo jumbo, i just always felt that those films lack substance.

Hell or High Water was damn good.

I watched High Plains Drifter today. Great movie. It's amazing how many old movies Netflix has picked up lately.

I have also been watching old Gun Smokes lately.

I think they are starting to catch on that old movies are better than the dogshit disney and hollywood have been offering lately.

I think that people watch movies that they can relate with. I can't relate with most of the garbage they are making these days. It seems that movies these days are more about telling some fantasy about how the producer wants us to think the world should be or make a political statement rather than tell a good story.

    They Call Me Trinity
    Trinity Is Still My Name
    and
    Revenge of Trinity

Also, Jeremiah Johnson and Mountain Man, must watch classics

I showed Jeremiah Johnson to some friends years ago and they were bored with the old movie pace haha

I can't think of any particular movie, but a Western with Jack Elam supporting in it is probably going to be pretty good!

Jack Elam was great. you got him in a movie you didn't know if he was going to be a heavy or comic relief because he could do anything.

What's fun about those, is spotting actors who went on to something else.

I grew up on Clint Eastwood westerners so I think they will always be my favorites but a modern one I highly recommend is Godless on Netflix - simply fantastic.

Also I loved the remake of True Grit as well..."fill your hands you son of a bitch"

I like all the TV westerns I grew up with, Wanted Dead or Alive, Gunsmoke, The Rebel, Rifleman, Maverick, Have Gun Will Travel, Cheyenne, Wagon Train. Still tune in on occasion.

But the more recent movies .... Open Range is pretty good. Duvall is good in about anything he does. Tombstone. Magnificent Seven remake.

Fun fact: They both have something in common with Iron Man. Bone Tomahawk's cave scenes were where RDJ was held captive by the terrorists and C&A was directed by Favreau. Six degrees of separation, I guess you could say.
