The former is 1" taller,. but wondering if I should take the risk of using this tire and getting rub? Like tall and skinny, if 275/75 or 265/80 existed I would take it. So 285/75 seems like the next best option.
What are your thought. Pictures if any of your setup?

285/70-18 will fit well, even on a stock non Pro model using the stock wheels. 285/75/18 fit pro models or other trims with 1.5+ inch lift up front using stock wheels. Personally I like 285/75, fills out the truck nicely, get all the height of 35s without the fitment issues if using the stock +60 wheels. If you are running aftermarket wheels with less positive offset you may need to lose the mudflaps or trim for 285/75, so in that case the 285/70 may work better for you.

Both are nice sizes on a tundra, pro or not. You probably have more tire choices in 285/75 as well.

Here is my truck, basically set up like the Pro models, 2 inch lift in front, 1 inch in rear with 285/75-18. As you can see I just had to remove the front air flaps at bumper, no issue with the mudflaps. Being a SR5, I did trim the skidplate a little. Your Pro skid plate will not be an issue however.

Nice looking small tire, what are the advantages?

The Tundra is meant to run on 20s.....

I get that almost everyone goes to bigger tires for the look. And some people think 285/75s look too skinny. My goal was different: maximum ground clearance with no modifications and no aftermarket parts needed. 285/75R18 is a skinny 35. They weigh less, and the 285mm width allows them to fit with OEM everything (UCAs, wheels, TRD Fox suspension*). It's a great tire that does what I need without the mpg hit of a 12.5" wide 35. YMMV...

But if you're just looking for something to fill the wheel wells out, 285/70 or even 275/70 will do the trick.

*I don't know about the 3rd gen, but the Pro suspension for the 2.5 fits 285/75R18s with no mods other than removing a small mud flap in front of the front wheels.
Yeah but she turned you away. "Too droopy," she was heard saying.

Then why do some of them come with 18s? Oh, that's right! Because they can run both size wheels for different applications, and for off road a smaller wheel with more sidewall is better. Big wheels with less sidewall are stiffer and better for on road cornering, but will ride rougher and are more likely to be damaged off road.

Just here to also voice my preference for tall but skinny tires. Really wish there was a 275 width tire that was around 35". I love the 255/85r16 or 255/80r17 on smaller vehicles like a Tacoma or 4Runner, but they are a little small in my mind for a long wheelbase full-size truck. 275/65R20 is close, but I really want something a bit taller so I plan to put 285/65r20 for the extra height.

I thought the pro came with 17s?

They came with 18’s until the latest version when they started putting 22” wheels on the capstone and platinum trucks.

I'll cast another vote for 295/70-18 on the Pro (and Go Rhino running boards!). Pin back felt liner (I ziptied back in 5 min) and no rubbing. Used SL weight range 116 Nitto Recon Grapplers at 53lbs each (over 10 lbs each lighter than E rated) and not such a bad hit on MPG.

Okay 285/75R18 on stock TRD Pro rims should not rub at all then, and I get the additional ground clearance too. Thanks!

No one I know goes "wow I wish I had 18s", actually that was a non seller for me for going to the Pro. That and the hideous red interior. The Tacoma can run on 18s all day long, I think and believe Toyota did this for one or two reasons, one being fuel mileage and the other being maybe the cost of forged 20s vs. 18s as a cost saving measure. Whatever off roading you do I promise you the Toyo A/T has been flawless in Sand, Mud, Snow, and Ice. The only area it doesn't excel in is wet pavement but as far as an E rated 10 ply tire it is pretty good. The Toyos are better than even the BF Goodwrench KO2s and doesn't throw as many rocks. I tend to believe every TRD Pro in this thread will not see serious off road conditions and will be more likely to be seen at your local malls just like Raptors.

You are kinda right. I wish I had 17" wheels so I could run the lighter "C" load range 35's that are OEM on the Raptor. Wouldn't dare get this thing dirty on the way to the mall......

I have done a pretty exhaustive search on this forum and the interwebs, I cannot find a picture of a 3rd gen TRD Pro with 285/70R18 or 285/75R18 on stock rims (I know very specific). Starting to wonder if they exist. It seems everyone just jumps straight to 35's or 295/70R18.

I have Nitto Recon Grapplers in 295/70/18. It did add a little height to the already tall truck. I haven’t gone on any trails yet however I’m sure they’ll perform well.

I should’ve mentioned that there’s absolutely no rubbing whatsoever. I’ve got just over 2,000 on them. My only complaint is that they’re a little noisy but not too bad.

Thanks. 285/75R18 is going to be 0.5" taller than the 295/70r18, so it may rub a little.
    35sx12.5 does rub though

I use an app called Fuelly which I input data to every time I fill up. I’m averaging 14.1 over the last 6 fill ups since I got the truck in September. I drive on normal however I’ve had a little fun in sport. Hope this was helpful.
