I had those things on Watch list for a while. I was eyeballing them to post here in case anyone was interested. But the price was obnoxious so I waited. And waited. And waited, and the price still hasn't come down so ... I guess the seller thinks they have a unicorn item.

What you posted about low mileage vehicles is absolutely true. I used my truck a lot for business when I first bought it, avg. 10K/yr for the first 3 years, then took another 15 years to put 10K miles on it. Since then, I've had the dreaded AIP go down, took a year for the "overlanding" build, and all kinds of gremlins are popping up now as I run 2-300+ mile trips running on/off road . First trip out, had a hell of a time engaging 4lo. Had to "exercise" the system every chance I got, and now no problems, engages on demand. Luckily no leaks, but I'm doing all the required maintenance as if it has 100K miles on it. Now, I make it a point to run the truck at least once a week,(between camping trips), 20 mile RT to the BLM shooting range South of the Vegas Strip, get some training in, and run the truck through ALL the gears, including Shift L.
Great post, I learned a lot.

no Mods... has new headlights and some dings on the side... just purchased a dent puller and Bilstein 5100's for it..... absolutely love it in the 2 weeks I've owned it...

Probably so.... but hey... learning comes at a price! lol

I just put some Bilstein 5100's on my '02 and I swear the originals handled washboard way better... so I guess I need to wait another 200k and I'm glad the motor is up for the challenge... lol I've owned some exceptional vehicles but this one gets the looks.... and conversations.

Thank you brother!! I checked toyota.com/owners & found that my frame was replaced in 2012, which explains why it is in such great shape

Will the Hood and bumpers from a 2004 RC work on a 2006 DC?
I have scanned this thread but didn’t find the specific guidance so…. My apologies in advance if it was covered. Thank you.

I want to say the hood interchanges across all years, but I swore the light housings are different shapes between DC and AC so maybe not. Fenders nope. Bumpers maybe?

I'm pretty sure the hood and grille are different, because of the headlights. Bumpers I'm not sure either.

Follow up…… basically nothing but the hood interchanged.
Lights, fenders, grill and bumpers were all a no-go.

Thanks for following up! So it was just the hood. I was thinking it would be the case, but I don't remember anyone on here trying to do it. Thanks for being the volunteer, you just saved someone a hell of a lot of pain in the future.

@jmladdy you probably want to read the first couple replies in this thread based on your comment in the photo thread... once you get back from your ban for BST circumvention.

Is it a red flag if the toyota.com/owners and /recall site says no open recalls but lists no service history? I've tried multiple browsers but the service history shows up blank with an 'add record' option. If there are no open recalls shouldn't there be a history of service for the lower ball joints or frame?

So was it possible to have the lower ball joints replaced under recall at 3rd party shops (toyota paid for the parts) leaving no recall service history? Were there any 1st gen tundras not covered under the LBJ recall? Is there any way to tell which part is installed by looking at it? Vincheckup shows recall 05V225000 for the LBJs covers the truck I'm looking at. Neither vincheckup nor carfax have any service history either.

I found a page on the toyota.com/owners site that says only the 'primary' owner can see service history, so maybe someone else is already registered.

This is probably your problem. I'd contact them, and see what they can do. If you can provide current/active registration and a pic of your driver's license, they should be able to unassign the primary person.

This is why I frown on people doing "research" on potential buys, you basically lock out the truck from someone else adding it.

But to your point, yes it should show in there. You may also be able to contact Toyota and ask them directly. Also note, several Canadian users have reported invalid/insufficient info when they registered their trucks.

This is the most concise write up for new members that I’ve ever seen in any forum. Every time I search something, I keep coming back to this thread & then read that section & there’s usually a link to a “master thread” for that topic. Very helpful. And it’s helped me to keep from looking stupid. (Until this post! )
    Thanks for the great resource!
