Seeing the gauge in that position really makes me wonder if the gauge is seated on the shaft properly.

Does it bounce when you hit bumps? Maybe it's wrapped all the way around past max and is physically stuck. I'd say pull the cluster and the face and investigate, just keep your greasy fingers off the black cluster face or the finger prints will stay there.

So you tried to move the gauge around with your finger or what's up with it? No matter where you put it, it just doesn't really try to go anywhere meaningful?

I don't recall if these trucks have an panel test. Usually it's something like hold the trip reset down and turn the ignition on. Then it cycles through every light and sweeps the gauges low to high.

I moved it from its curent position to the max heat mark and it just springs back down to its no reading position.

Do you have a multi-meter? Check the cluster/ gauge itself.

The coolant gauge is measuring temperature.
The oil pressure gauge is measuring PSI.

This reminds me, it's been 1-2 weeks since I installed my new LBJ and bolts. I need to get under the truck this weekend to re-check torque, then mark my bolt positions

so far so good, but I just got them in last night after work. I wasn't having a problem per se with the originals but the bushings were pretty toast and I did get close to 2" of lift from my springs so I was more following the advice from this forum. It did seem a little quieter on bumps driving around the block but kind of like how my truck sounds better after changing the oil, probably a figment of my imagination.

My custom “extended” factory sway bar links are still going strong. Would appear my TRE boots have come loose. Really need some TLC on this front end. Maybe when I do the front wheel bearings….

Highly recommend this stuff if you ever need to do touch up paint work. I'm not sure if they offer every color but they have Work Van white.

I used that stuff in Toyota natural white 056 for my mismatched door trim and it wasn't even close. YMMV

Don't forget to check operation of the breather valve while you're doing all that. They get gunked up. Of course if you're pulling it to check it might as well do a relocate to someplace higher. Flooding where it never used to flooding seems more likely every year.
