Guys need some help please, trying to decide between cbi or c4 sliders for our tundra. Pros and cons of each side by side please. Torn between the 2. And their bumpers as well. Thanks for the help.

I’d go C4 or RCI personally,

my personal experiences with CBI haven’t been great. Horrible communication and customer service

I’ve had RCI still on my Tacoma and tundra. They have been known for quality products

Really depends on what cab type you have because not all of the brands make sliders for the DC, last I checked. But, I’m going to assume that have you a CM so you’re probably fine.

Went through this same decision in Nov preparing for Black Friday. Had C4 sliders on my 4Runner and they were STOUT. Probably could’ve hung the 4Runner from just one of them.

But I purchased the Tundra for long distance travel over road and trail with wife, kids, and dog, in comfort and ease (not to mention grew tired of playing tetris trying to cram everything in or on the T4R when heading out for week+ adventures). I knowingly gave up the fun of driving tight technical trails to gain all the benefits of a full size.

In other words I won’t be crashing down with the full weight of the truck on the sliders anymore (at least not intentionally). So I prioritized other things. A generous stepping surface to help wife and kids to get in. Adequate width to protect the doors from our Appalachian trees and trunks for the occasion when bravery trumps common sense and I venture onto a tighter trail. As much length as possible to protect the foreword section of the bed (some sliders stop short). And selecting for a (comparatively) lighter set so I can stay as close to GVWR as possible when my build is done. Unlike with my 4Runner, I don’t intend to ride rocks with these - they’re there as insurance.

I ended up going with CBI. In part because they hit those marks. But also because I liked the idea of my sliders matching the CBI Covert bumper I purchased, and their aluminum skid package that I might pick up down the road. Didn’t hurt to have met the guys a few times at Overland Expos going back to 2019. Solid group.

I read about some of the bad experiences folks have had with CBI and ended up ordering through a third party. Figured they could interact with CBI on my behalf. I only pinged the third party once to ask for a status update and they were prompt in replying. Got my sliders (and the bumper) within the timeline forecasted on CBI’s website at the time I purchased. Very happy with the quality and finish of both products. So no drama in my experience.

I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any of these options. Just ask yourself what’s most important to you and go from there.

I've been to RCI's shop a few times. Quite impressive actually. @T-Rex266 introduced me to the owner a few years back.

Truck Brigade. Wait time was 10 weeks when I ordered and they arrived exactly 10 weeks later.

Mounted them up today. Passenger side took twice as long as driver because you have to disconnect some lines and carefully slide it into place (I’ll admit it was a bit of a PITA - had a neighbor come over to help with that side).

I believe mounting varies by truck configuration. On my non-hybrid crewcab 5.5’ each side mounts with 3 bolts through the frame and carriage bolts on the ends of all 4 C-clamps. The sliders feel solid.

Only issue I ran into was the driver side rear bracket was forced open wider because of what looks like reinforced plating on the frame in this area, and the carriage bolt ends up just a touch short (it fit fine when test fitting on the ground). I’ll grab a longer one next weekend to finish the install.

If you want to be a glutton fur punishment just be a beta tester for our sliders when they come out :p

This is the super top secret F 150 experimental design.

All the Colorado people will vote for RCI, as they should. RCI sliders and skids on both my trucks and a sticker on the Tundra.

Looks like RCI changed the top plate design to let moisture out on either end. After three winters, the top plate on both my sliders is rusting at the welds. My son and I spent some Sunday time scraping off the surface rust and spraying them with Rustoleum, but there's still rust under there. It rusts between the welds because the moisture just sits in there.

    Who bought them?

I stopped by Toytec a while back and realized they had sold too. Sad. A lot of people left and it's different in there now.

That sold a few years ago back. My close friend is the founder/CEO of Toytec. My other good buddy, Hugo - is now back at Toytec.

Are you locked into these two brands or are you open to others? I just installed some White Knuckle Offroad sliders on my truck and LOVE them. They're a small company based out of SoCal.

I've spoken to Hugo before. I'm working with a guy named Justin now.

Could you please ask your close friend/founder/CEO to run the Aluma sale they do every year, usually twice a year, but didn't do last year or so far this year? I want some red 2.5 coilovers.
