Smaller aftermarket antenna suggestions

Anyone have any luck with an aftermarket antenna? I’m planning to remove the factory whip and replace it with a new smaller antenna. Suggestions are appreciated.

 

I bought the Amazon one, it looks way cooler, but it is awful for any AM or FM radio imo. I use Bluetooth mostly so it's no issue for me unless I want to listen to local sports. I also bought it in 2021, maybe tech has improved

I've heard nothing but shit things about the shorty/stubby antennas in the 1st gens. Horrible reception, bad idea, yadda yadda.

Thanks for the reply’s. I’ll save my money and stick with the original antenna, a quick Amazon search of reviews echos what you all experienced.

 

Pretty sure I've got the same one off scamazon as listed above.
If I've lost any reception, it's not much.
I do live where there is plenty of signal, so there's that.
But when I do go out of town, I lose reception just about the same area as I did with the factory whip-stick.

Maybe there's crappy imposter copies IDK, but I do listen to am /fm a lot, and if the thing was garbage, it'd be in the trash.

You need one of the 50 cal "brotennas".

 

How do you know?

 

A whip antenna attached to the front of the brush guard because the OEM was deleted due to a snorkel install brings in better than factory reception

 

To echo this, the antenna base and that chrome ring are discontinued and highly saw after because they are prone to crumble. If you ever decide to take yours off, don’t ever throw it away

 

I really need to dig back into whether a Sequoia power antenna will fit into an AC fender or not. I’d love to have power antenna. I never listen to the radio and the antenna smacks every damn thing. Leave the garage? Smack. Enter my parking deck at work? Smack the bar on the way in, smack the roof at each floor, smack the roof crossing from the upside to the downside, it’s aggravating.

But I’d like to keep my antenna intact, just to stay tucked away unless the radio is on.

 

I just removed my antenna (unscrewed) and put in the rear cab storage (2017 model). Then put a small bolt with the same thread pattern in the hole. The reception wasn’t great obviously but of needed you just switch, since 99% of the time don’t use the radio. Costs 0.50$ and is easy to undo if you don’t like it.

I put one of these on my Ferd. I don't use FM radio. Just use my phone with Android Auto so didn't care for weaker reception.

All I know is the previous owner of my truck had an "internal antenna" box behind the passenger side sun shade and said there was a break in the antenna line. Haven't gotten to look into fixing that yet, reception is crap on the aftermarket one.

 

I'm pretty sure it depends on the brand.

I put a small black Bosch antenna on my Mustang back in the early 80s. I guess they were some of the very first ones. I know I was expecting improved reception based on their marketing, but it turned out to just be equal - still looked much better
