No reason to make your v6 even louder unless there are substantiated hp and torque gains.

You can change the way it sounds, but you can't make it sound good.

I've got one. Reasonably priced, especially for stainless steel. Well made with quite decent welds. There are substantiated dyno results for my NA 3.8L. Can't vouch for what it sounds like on the new Tundra V6 in person but mine does sound good. Hard to make a V6 sound good but the FX dropdown does. Not as loud as you think. Do you or anyone else commenting here have any actual hands on experience with this new FX Extreme drop down other than me that the OP initially inquired about?

The exhaust in the link actually sounds great in the video. I'm not sure what it sounds like in real life, but they made it sound pretty smooth in that video.

I'd love to shed the weight of the factory muffler and gain a bit of clearance without adding the Honda Civic'esque sound of all the other exhausts I've heard for the gen 3 (tig welded or BBQ painted).

I was skeptical, but decided to put one on and hear it for myself. Glad I did!

My phone doesn't do it justice. There are quite decent sound clips out there already. I haven't noticed any "annoying" drone. Holley's demo sound clip is pretty good. Keep in mind that mine is on a Frontier with the naturally aspirated 3.8L V6. Build quality is very good. Losing the weight of the OEM exhaust is a plus. Was heavy as f**k throwing it into the bed after installing the FX. :frusty:

It's tough to argue with that price point for stainless steel. If things keep trending the same way, a tank of gas will cost as much as they're asking for that exhaust!

I just may gamble on it. When I first looked at it, I didn't give the post muffler exhaust dump much thought, but it seems like it would be great paired with a high clearance rear bumper like the LilB's offering. The other aftermarket rears seem to follow the same body lines as stock and not offer much in the way of enhanced departure angle, but this exhaust and a LilB's bumper would probably net you several inches more clearance. The weight of this exhaust would also help offset the added weight of a steel rear bumper.

So... what gets me is where we're you when the 2nd Gen Tundra was released to solve a drone free exhaust system with notable gains? I get you don't like DD exhaust but what about all the other manufacturers that offer sub par drone induced exhausts. You can have a decent business mission helping Tundra owners without being condescending.
    Wasn't this about Flowmaster?

I finally had the opportunity to listen to the actual videos on the flowmaster website. LOL

No thanks. In their case, they changed the way it sounds, and it's worse, especially their example of interior sound.

    It's a v6, keep it quiet.

LOL. So what you are saying is you still can't answer the OP's question. No actual "in person" experience, only comments based upon a video clip that never truly captures the sound as the human ear can and a preconceived notion that V6's can't sound good? Check. In all fairness, my in person experience is with my Frontier's V6 and not with the new turbo'd Tundra V6 which I have previously stated. I can't comment if there is any difference since I have no "in person" experience with it. Only the sound clip. Check.

lol I didn’t know my question would be so controversial. Was just curious if that system sounded as good as the video.

Ha! Mine sounds great! Very, very low rumble at idle and sounds pretty darn good when on it. I did have reservations. I know how bad a V6 can sound. We all do. If mine sucked, I would have had it off in a heartbeat. At least I can give you first hand info since I have one. It's better than the sound clip.

Good! You can easily remove it if you don't like what you hear. Worth a shot.

Well the one down side is that for tundra you have to cut to install it. If it were pure bolt on I probably would have already ordered it. So if I do try it and want to go back to stock I’ll have to get a shop to weld the stock back on.

BTW...it's not loud. Flowmasters can get raspy and loud depending on what series, but this new Extreme FX muffler is nicely done.

Might work! The FX is a "moderate" sound rated muffler which I prefer. Drone shouldn't be too bad. Maybe.... I do prefer the dropdown pipe to direct the sound downward and the clearance I get is a plus.

Not to dig out an old thread but I did this to a 23 limited. Had them leave the stock resonator after the muffler aswell and it sounds good. Not a kid and dont want a fart cannon. Have A 14 platinum with a random flowmaster in the garage in case I dont like this new gen. so far I like it. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=RzVZRXlzREhVWFk1STNGUFBBN0xEQ1FFZ1FJenRR

https://photos.app.goo.gl/69F1i548EbYrFeKB7 sounds like a fart in video but not really that bad in person lol.Its descreet and I can hear it remote start and that was my goal. I kept the stock 3rd gen muffler incase i didnt like it . Ill prollly keep this setup. Watched all the exhaust videos for this truck and nothing impressed me.
This is honestly the best rout to add a lil sound and not having a fart box even if budget isnt an object.I dont think $1,000000,000000 could make a V6 sound good on a street truck.
