They finally came in. I always forget how beefy our CO are when they are aftermarket ones. First time owning Fox 2.5, had 2.0 on a previous tundra. Currently have 6112/5160.The rears are massive. And the best part was the price. It pays to Google everywhere you can and for discount codes.
    (edit) Forgot the price. $2960

Might be a few weeks but I will. They surely can't be worse than my 6112/5160.

You probably already did the research. How do these compare to say the 8000 series Bilstein or kings or icons?

Glad they came in for you and were in stock. Pretty sure they share the same coils as the factory series; if that’s the case I’d look into treating them somehow. Mine are well rusted after not even 12 mo. of San Diego weather. Others I’ve seen are the same. Just something to think about

I did do a lot of research, but not on the 8100 series. They were too much $$$$ for what I use the truck for. Not to mention I wanted to move away from a digressive to a progressive shock. Didn't do too much looking into Icon, from the few things I read they are good just not that popular per se. Kings, well they are Kings. Some love them some dont, same for Fox. Seems Fox and King are the top sold or talked about shocks out there. I looked in Falcon, Radflow, Dobinson, Elka, to name a few. In the end they were either digressive or were too much $$$$ for what I needed it for. Not to mention the price I got the Fox's for, couldn't pass up that deal.

If $$ were no object would you still get the fox. Or better put if they were all the same price would you still get the fox?
I gotta replace my eibachs and I don’t care what the new ones cost comparatively. If I can spend $2500 and be delighted…great. Or if it’s $4000. I just don’t want to do this for a third time.

Well, if money is no issue, then the skys the limit. Everyone raves about Accutune tuned shocks and they have the same one I bought for $3700. If your 2wd, supposedly you have to change the springs out to a 600lb spring, that's another $125, plus when they tune them they replace the inside piston at that another $30. I currently have 700lb springs on my bilstiens and I figured that if I need to go down to a 600lb spring, I can do that myself. But the Fox will ride better for what I want them for over the Bilsteins, so regardless it's win for me. To me the $1000 more to get them through Accutune wasn't worth it. That's a lot of money for a tune, but money was an issue for me, in the sense that I dont need that good of a ride to justify that amount of money. But money wasn't an issue in the sense that I didn't want to spend another $1-1500 and still not be satisfied. Accutune does have other packages, but they are all with in the $3-4k. Like I almost pulled the trigger on the King package for $3090, but then if I need to drop to 600lb springs, more money and not to mention the King package requires UCA, another $600+++ depending on the UCA you get. Plus the Kings package didn't come with DSC. Once again, not worth it for what I do with the truck. Decide what your end goal is first, off-road, comfort, etc, then go from there. Read up on digressive, progressive and linear also to give you a sense of what shock is good for what.

Forgot to answer part of your question. If they are all the same price would I get Fox? Hard question, they all have good and bad reviews. So with that in mind, I would choose by color or by what looks nicer.

So you dont like the 6112 or is it just time for replacement due to age/mileage on them?

Thanks. Cake walk though. This will be my 5th CO lift install on a tundra.

The 6112 are fine, age /milage wise, they only have around 27-28k miles on them. I installed them in mid 2021. I dont like the way they ride on the road. It a digressive shock and is meant for more off-road. I hardly go off-road. My 33" BFG KO2 E rated dont help either, so those will also be changed out soon after the CO install is done.

Interesting. I have 6112/5160 on a 4runner and love the ride both on and off road. Totally different weight and balance than a tundra though.

Ride is subjective, obviously. To me, at first, the ride was what I wanted. Stiffer, more control, way less rebound and boaty feeling, etc. Then comes my 2k road trip. That's where it all changed. Now, normally I only drive 3 miles to work and back. So, on this road trip, everything changed. What I once liked turned into a dislike. The truck lost its road comfort. You could feel every pebble on the road. I could feel every road crack, road reflector, etc. Yes, you real all that but it's just different from factory shocks. The cracks pebbles, etc feel more harsh, like the shock didn't absorb the impact. Obviously this has to do with the Bilsteins being a digressive shock, reason I went progressive. They react to smaller bumps and such better.

Compared to the Bilstein 6112/5160 combo, love them. I also put 600lb springs and now have SL 33" tires instead of the E rated BFG KO2. Rides so much smoother and takes smaller bumps way better than the 6112. I got caught up on all the hype of the 6112 and should have done more research before I bought them. I will never go back to a digressive CO, ever. Same goes for the KO2. Garbage, couldn't hold balance, noisy after like 20k, expensive and not worth it.

I went with General APT. Could have gone with the ATX but wanted a more road type tire I stead of AT. 275/70-18

I was conflicted between these and the factory series. Mostly just trying to decide between aluminum and steel, and the fact that the elites have a smidge extra travel. I too had a decent hook up on mine and think I paid a little under $3k for front and rear.

I ended up going with the factory 2.5 Reservoir with DSC’s front and rear. I guess I just liked the idea of steel over aluminum but I have no reason to back it up. I also live in FL so corrosion wasn’t a concern.

And definitely good advice on the SL tires. Anything above a load C range tire turns these trucks into a driving brick.
