Replaced my passenger rear caliper with a free one from Autozone... I guess no one does the warranty? It took them 45 minutes to figure out how to return it and give me a new one without charging me. Lessons learned, the brake bracket doesn't come with the caliper, even though I paid for it initially. They will also allow you to use their tools on their counter and not charge you for them, since they weren't clear on the item. Brake now feels solid, I'm still rocking 3 slotted cryo treated rotors and 1 OEM rotor, no runoff, but it did look scratched up, so I kept it on reused the pads, since they have a lot of meat on them, about 75%. Brake pedal feels pretty solid and stiff at full brake, no creeping yet which is nice. Used the old bottle and fuel tube, pretty much drained the master cylinder, so I don't need to flush much from the other corners.

we have the dome lights that we can swap from white to red. The red is great at night. The only issue I have with it is our states Driver’s License numbers are in red, so you can’t read the numbers at night with the red dome going lol.

Got rid of the old crappy looking paint protection film. Now to figure out headlights & fog lights because they look terrible too.

Got some good maintenance/repairs in. Sent my truck to my mechanic to finally get my lower control arms installed that have been back ordered for 6 months. Tires rotated and fluids changed as well. Can’t wait to pick it up Monday since the shop is closed weekends.

For those that have replaced their torque converter in the 07-08s with the recall/common failure-

I've already swapped mine once, two years ago, around 230k and now its failed again at 250k... I was able to source one from a local trans parts shop back when I swapped it. However I'm not looking to have to do this every two years... what TC did y'all go with? The Toyota OEM is $1700

Removed my handles, cleaned the hell out of them, and installed some color match covers off ebay. Overall I'm happy with the quality for $40.

Put one of the BedRug mats in the back of my tundra. Got it from a salvage place for $8, had never been used. Seems like a pretty good product worth more than paid for sure but I don't think I would be happy at full retail. Kinda pricey.

Went out to start my truck today and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I have seen this movie before.... eight months ago. For the second time in eight months, a squirrel has eaten through my wiring harness. The first time my insurance company covered it; to the tune of almost $7500. No sure how they are going to react to this one.

The truck had only been sitting in my driveway for a little over 12 hours and the little bastard got to it.... Tomorrow is all out war on squirrels on my property. I've got thousands of rounds of .22lr and plan to use a lot of it tomorrow.

I'm 100% sure a tundra could pull that thing upright.

Edit: 50% sure, lack of atmosphere and gravity for traction might be issues. Also unfiltered sun light wouldn't be kind to paint, plastics and rubber.

I like that you made a silly joke and then wildly over-thought it.

Anyway I finally washed the truck today. Before/during/after:

I wanted to update the interior with a more modern look and feel. Inspired by others in this thread, I covered the steering wheel with a perforated leather wrap, which just looks and feels so much better!

Then with the guidance from @OldGuy03, I painted the silver dash and door trim pieces black and swapped in a black-knobbed HVAC panel from a SR.

And at the last minute, I thought I would complete the look with an Optitron cluster, which I reluctantly admit was anticlimactic. I think the old cluster with the white LEDs looked crisper and brighter. Either way, it still looks good! The Optitron tinted cover was a little worse for the wear when it arrived, so I used some Meguair's Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish to get it a little glossier.

Great news and bad news for my truck lol
Finally picked it up today from the shop, they kept it longer to do my rear brakes cause they were almost metal to metal I figured why not yall already got it taken apart lol but I had them do an inspection and I found out my valve cover gasket and my steering rack & pinion are both leaking smh. That being said I did a rack and pinion before and I won’t do it again lol that’ll be something I’ll let them do at a later date. BUT I would like to attempt the valve cover gasket cause I couldn’t believe their price.
that being said has anyone done a valve cover gasket? Was it difficult?

Are they sure it was the valve covers and not the cam towers?

Cam towers leaks are are very common with the 5.7

Yeah they were confident it was my valve cover seal. They said it’s barely leaking though on my drivers side, so not super urgent but I’ll need to get that addressed sooner rather than later.
I trust these guys, been going to them since 2015 and haven’t had a shitty diagnosis or rip off yet lol

    Thanks!
SEM Prep, Adhesion Promoter, and Trim Black (you'll only use 1< can of paint for the gauge cluster surround). The bezels can (and should) be removed for prep and paint. Word of advice - thoroughly clean the surfaces with the plastic prep. I found that using this Scotch-Brite pad on every smooth surface (like the gauge bezels and armrest trim pieces) during the prep phase, promoted adhesion.

    C4 front bumper is done(ish)!

Tried installing it with the winch, but the winch makes contact with the intercooler water pump, so that'll have to get relocated. Instructions say to leave 0.5"-0.75" reveal between the fascia and bumper but I think I'm going to close that gap a bit. I'll probably do that once I get the water pump situation figured out and drop the bumper for the winch.
