    Hey Yall,
I have just went through all the problems that have been documented here on this forum. I'm going to call it hard starts. (Engine spins, no start) took to dealership, sold me a battery I knew I didn't need. Sent me away, came back later, can't find anything? Came back after 60k, OH, its your fuel pump. $1200! I said, No thanks I can do that. Long story, my fuel tank was out, fuel lines and tank open to the air with moisture for a month. I got it back together yesterday, and after a few minutes of running it started skipping and the traction control light and check engine lights are going crazy! I checked the codes today, and its the P0300s. (Cylnder Misfires) I either have fuel lines plugged into the wrong place on the pump, or maybe water condensation problems? Anyone had similar issues?
    Thanks, Guy

You put fresh gas in? Did you use the OBD port to reset any of the fuel settings on the ECU?

No, I didn't. I turned the switch on and let it build pressure for a few minutes. Then started it up. It ran fine for about a mile. Then started this...

I’d try putting fresh gas in. How much fuel is in the tank?

the fuel trim calibration and alcohol density settings on the ECU should be cleared. The alcohol density being incorrect is what caused your issue of the hard / extended cold starts.

I drained the tank before installation. Put 6 gallons in to start. Tried to drive to gas station. Started acting crazy. Figured it was really outta gas, because there was about 10 gallons left in tank at empty on the instrument cluster, before I removed the tank. It has about 15 gallons in it now. I just added some water removal additive against my best instincts. Its idling, still throwing codes.
I really don't know how to do the reset thing? I'm an old skool mech.

Can I clear the settings and ecu with a scanner, or by disconnecting the battery for a while? I was pretty confident that condensation was my problem. But, I don't think it is getting better idling.

Not supposed to be. However, my fuel pump, and a fuel line that I broke have all been wrong according to vin and model. So, yeah...maybe?

Post a pic of your gas cap. Or the engine code on the label under the hood or door jamb.

On a serious note all this crap pisses me off. I’m so disappointed in Toyota over it. They had my truck for 11 damn months and didn’t Fix anything. It’s ridiculous. I will never take a truck back to a dealership for anything unless it happens to be a major recall.

My 2019 has an open recall for the fuel pump. No way I'm leaving my truck to those buttheads for the warranty job. When time comes, I'll pay for the pump out of pocket and replace it myself.

The Hell i have been thru! If yall haven't dropped one of these tanks that are (empty) 8 or 10 gallons? They're 6 feet long and my truck has five hoses with three different fitting styles. There is NO room to work from the short hoses and wiring. Anyway... it's really (Fun)! I think Toyota has been F-ing us around. Knowing exactly what the problem is, and I hate that! Because, I really like my truck and I did like the local service department. Not now.

It’s sad actually. Before @AZBoatHauler helped me out I was truly at my end. It was crazy to look at my FJ with 300000 miles on it as the “more” dependable vehicle then my Tundra with 50k on her. Luckily this is an easy fix and worth the money to invest in a scanner.
