I call it lame keeping assist. Only works acceptably well on well marked flat straight roads. Otherwise, it isn't worth bothering with.

    Nothing.
If I'm not careful it'll jerk me back into the lane I'm trying to leave. Reminder to use a turn signal - even if no one else is around. :annoyed:

I turn mine off. That and radar cruise are worthless features.

Lane trace is only decent on straight major highways. Way too jerky otherwise. I don’t really understand how so many cars get this right but the tundra can’t. Adaptive Cruise is cool though. I don’t mind that.

You can change the settings making it pretty good on the hwy. I had to turn the lane assist part on after I bought it. Good enough now you can hang something weighted on the steering wheel and not touch it at all...not that I'd condone such behavior

Been a good while since I've messed with it. You'll have to be in park to fix the correct one, it doesn't pop up in drive. I'll take a look tomorrow, remind myself how it's set. Think I put it in normal or something like that, didn't want it jerking around

Same. Turned it off on the way home from the dealership and haven’t used it since.

Change it to lane centering, it seems to work better when it can identify the lanes. For the most part on interstates it has worked well for me. One day it was super windy and I used it with radar cruise and it kept it pretty much centered and I didn’t have to fight the wind.

You can also adjust the sensitivity guys, just wanted to make sure

but I think this is part of the we got Toyota 2.5 and not 3.0 which is upgraded , perhaps someone can clarify if the newer system is better at this

wide open interstate I like the radar cruise and lane center on low sensitivity, then make the following at two bars . This is where the hud is nice for all this

I’ve tried to like LTA. Experimented with all the settings. I think a drunk could drive a straighter line. Way too much pin-balling side to side for me. I won’t ever use it.

I use mine all the time. I never get the pinballing or jerky movements that others complain about. I don't know why. I regularly drive between Florida and New York; 20 hours straight on I-95. I can do 90% of that literally folding my hands (although I don't actually do that) and sit back and relax if I want to.
Adaptive cruise works great and lane assist works with the common sense acceptance that it won't work when lane lines are missing and there are construction activities with lane relocations etc.
It is not Auto pilot by any means, but it was not intended to be.

If you set it to lane centering it stops the pin balling

Not for me. The constant over-correcting of lane centering is very noticeable. The first time I used it was on a long roadtrip with my wife. It caused her to wake up from a nap and ask me "why are you swerving so much?". It's a very poorly implemented system, IMO.

I find it useful when Im eating while driving or I know I will be slightly distracted for a minute. Keeps me from drifting over. (Reaching into back seat for something etc)
    Then I turn it off.

I love the radar cruise. You’re actually the first person I have heard that is not a fan.
2 lane hwy, not able to pass. Set that and pace right with the car in front.

my OCD would always mess with me setting cruise manually. Bump up, too fast gain on vehicle ahead, bump down not keeping up blah blah blah

I have been messing with this feature on my way to work in the mornings. It seams to work best if u do the following. Turn it on, and look at the screen. Adjust the truck so both lines in the screen light up silver (the thick bars on the simulated road edges. Once it has those you can let it drive. Then just set your active cruise. You do however have to lightly hold the wheel or slightly adjust the wheel or the orange icon will come on and it will sway and beep at you every mile or so. It’s kind of a strange feature. It could be way more useful if implemented correctly. Now the hold feature that’s sweet at a drive thru or in traffic. Very nice.
