I recently purchased. 2024 1794 hybrid with TRD off road package in wind chill pearl. Debating trading in for solar octane TRD pro with black interior OR keeping what I have and lifting, pro front grill, chrome delete.

Anyone know what the ride/comfort differences between the Pro and the 1794?

My vote is to keep what you got & do a chrome delete. Should have all the same 4 wheel drive & hybrid features as the Pro, except a nicer interior.

Unless you want black seats, I don’t see the point in the trade. Sure you get factory warranty with the pro parts but I’d rather keep what you have and put what I’d want to put on there. I love the saddle brown leather of the 1794 so I’d keep that and just add to it. I had Fox shocks on my 2021 trd pro Tacoma and they were nice but you can definitely just add Fox shocks to it if you want the ride

That's really a question for you to answer. What do you want to get out of it, what do you use it for? If you want rarity, go with a Pro, if you want custom get the TRD lift with the primo interior of the 1794.

I'd stick with the 1794 modded for sure. Only go with the PRO if "resale" is a concern.

I have a platinum and am considering upgrading the shocks for the ride. I think the Platinum and 1794 have great features missing from the TRD Pro.

Loving all the input. The people have spoke and I'm going to still with the 1794 + upgrades. Here is what i'm thinking:

    • TRD Grill + Light Bar + Grill Running Lights
    • 17in Wheels in Matte Black
    • 35 Tires
    • TRD Suspension/Lift Kit (Any other recommendations? Would like to do a King setup but rust kings don't survive the midwest)
    • Chrome Delete:
      • Color match:
        • mustache
        • rear bumper
      • Matt Black:
        • Tailgate Handle
        • Window trim
        • door handles
        • front lower
        • chrome swoosh on doors
    • TRD Skid Plate
    • Power Side Step

+1 for the chrome delete and upgrades. Pretty much what I’ve done with my 1794 minus the 1794 chrome badge on the doors. Love the interiors on the 1794.

@chachycharlie nice job on your build, looks killer. What is your tire/wheel sizing and lift or no lift? Just picked up a 1794 and trying to figure out which direction ti go. Don’t want to go too big and yours looks spot on.

    Thanks! They're 35x12.5r18 with a 2 inch lift.

My vote is to keep 1794, it is not a significant gain in power or comfort compared to the Pro, also remember that pro has little stiffer suspension system so you are downgrading comfort. And I echo what others say earlier, delete chrome and enjoy what you have.

Beautiful looking ride, enjoy. What route you took to delete the front chrome, I am debating painting the chrome to save some money vs purchasing new one and get done with it.

There is literally zero difference in power, its exactly the same powertrain wise. The pro is the same hybrid as 1794 hybrid. Also the pro has a softer suspension with better shocks to dampen the higher speed bumps and wouldn't say its more stiff....maybe more responsive, but a more plush ride... Any well known 2.5" shock upgrade will outperform the pro fox shocks i.e. Dobisons, King, Elka, etc. and you'll probably still be money ahead compared the the pro price difference. Its funny when a person buys a pro then lifts their ride and removes the suspension, you've literally just changed what makes the pro special outside the red interior and solar octane/terra colors (although I think solar octane can be had on lower trims in MY24). I think the Platinum or 1794 with upgraded suspension is the sweet spot and compared to the big three that is the best bang for your buck. Also the leather is much nicer than the softex in the pro.

I worked with a build shop here in Utah but the surround is an overlay from chromestoppers.com. There's a good instructional video here:

Definitely keep what you have and I second the chrome delete,if your going to get the rear bumpers done do the front valance as well.

@teab What suspension do you recommend? Was told not to get Kings in midwest because they rust out and need rebuild all the time.

@Akashian I think bang for your buck Dobinson's MRR's for extreme adjustability and IMS for simple and cost effective-ness is probably the best bang for your buck. I personally am leaning towards the Elka's right now mainly because I don't want to lift the rig much if at all, I just want a better more compliant ride. Currently only have the pro rear fox shocks and airbags and getting the itch to do something new up front. You'll have to search around on here to see for recommendations on what holds up best in the rust belt as I'm in the land of high deserts and minimal salt.

Pretty much any "performance" shock will have to be rebuilt to maintain ride quality. I think a daily driver maintenance interval is 25,000-50,000 miles from King or Fox Race series. The TRD kit is a safe route to go if you basically just want a lift with a "warranty".

You absolutely need a lift, bigger tires and armor. Even mild dirt roads have some pretty nasty ruts.

You did a nice job on your Tundra. What 2 inch lift did you go with? I'm not a Tundra owner yet but lurking and thinking about making the move.

Does the Platinum come with the Black out kit I think they call it or package that would do the same as chrome delete?

My King's did get some rust on them in Maryland thanks to the liquid crap they put down when getting a 1/2 inch of snow. I used a product called Shark Hyde I think to coat them when new and that helps but you need to redo it here and there.

Which performance aftermarket lift of the following will perform the best for mostly on road and some off road trails + wont rust out immediately in the salty rest belt:
    • TRD Lift Kit from toyota (Bilstein)
    • Dobinson's MRR
    • IMS
    • King
    • Elka
    • Fox

What @DFS said for the TRD Lift kit. No idea on the least rusty probably have to search the forum for feedback there....

Have you called King to talk to them about that? They'll be able to address your concerns better than anyone except maybe a dedicated off-road shop.

I would do like @DFS said and contact King directly they might have a solution already or might be able to coat the King's before assembly or after. Just a thought. I know the King's on my F250 rode great. And after 8 yrs the King stuff didn't look horrible but also didn't look new. Also look for any metal protection for aluminum.

Man that Lunar Rock and now White Platinum look so good set up the way you all have them. That is the two colors I am leaning towards if I do end up in a 24 Tundra Platinum.

    Great Job.
