    TRD Performance Package and Tune
Hello I am new to the Tundras.com community. Just purchased a new 2024 TRD PRO TUNDRA in TERRA in October of last year. So far I love the truck. I traded in a 2022 37 package ford raptor, after having a bad experience with ford last summer with 2 vehicles that where / are under warranty.

After owning 4 different Raptors since 2018, I do not miss the raptor at all in regards to day to day driving, although I wish the tundra had a few options the raptor offers like a fully powered tailgate that will close from the key fob as well as open, I wish the tundra had steel front and rear bumpers, and I wish the TRD PRO Tundra came with at least 35 inch tires. I ended up putting Toyo 35 inch tires on the tundra, which I really like. And I wish the tundra TRD PRO came with the interior of the platinum.

As far as things I like better = I like the on road handling better. I have spent enough time in both trucks to know that the Tundra handles better on pavement. The raptor has better off road suspension. The Tundra with the I Force Max is faster than the 3.5 L eco boost. I think the exterior looks are a tie in my opinion. I feel like the camera system is better in the tundra and they both have great infotainment systems. I love the TRD light bar and the marker lights in the front grill and on the back tailgate. And the adaptive cruise control on the tundra is excellent . The headlights are also excellent. I absolutely love the piped in sound from the exhaust, even though it’s not real. Truck looks great on 35’s. The most payload I have had in truck is 1150 pounds and it handles it no problem.

As far as the interior quality I think it’s a tie between the raptor and the TRD PRO Tundra. I think overall build quality is also a toss up, as there are things I like about the Tundra better and things I like about the raptor better. As far as overall build quality in half ton trucks nothing touches the Ram TRX right now, if you can justify a $ 30,000.00 to $ 50,000.00 price increase to purchase the TRX. That’s approximately 1.5 times the price of a TRD PRO Tundra.

So far the best fuel economy I can get is 15.5 mpg combined. Most of the time I get 14.5 MPG. And I am 65 percent highway and 35 percent in town driving. My highway driving is adaptive cruise set at either 72 or 75 MPH. I can’t touch 19 combined. I can’t 19 combined even when I had the stock tires. I have 3000 miles so far.

So far I love the truck and when you consider the TRD PRO HAS a MSRP of $ 75,000.00 and the 35 raptor is $ 85,000.00 loaded and the 37 raptor is $ 98,000.00 loaded, and the Raptor R is $ 115,000.00 loaded MSRP, after owning a 35 raptor and a 37 raptor I honestly feel for the price difference the TRD PRO TUNDRA is the better value. You can do a lot with $ 10,000.00 to $ 40,000.00 dollars. The only truck I would consider if I was unhappy with the TRD PRO, which I am not is the Ram TRX.

I will say that I am very confused as to why the Tundra gets such negative reviews compared with the other half ton trucks. Believe me I do not miss the raptor when I am driving the TRD PRO Tundra.

Matter of fact I like the TRD PRO so much, my 1794 limited edition was built Tuesday in blueprint and tentatively should arrive around April 10.

I look forward to contributing to the forum.

I have the Platinum with well over 40k miles. I think the 'hate' comes from Toyota picky pickers community as well as competitors using social media to denigrate the product . Its an amazing truck and theres is always room for improvements for sure but given the options out there - no other product would make me switch in that category.

I agree. If it’s not a Raptor or TRX nobody cares.

The 1794 limited edition has the same suspension as the TRD PRO = Fox shocks.

In the second half of 2022 Ford increased the price of all the raptors, including the bronco raptor. So late 2022’s and 2023’s saw a increase of $ 7000.00 to as much as $ 15,000.00 MSRP.
