Stupid question I know, but I am torn between the limited and sr5 trims. I am more than likely going to go in and look at a few trucks in the next few weeks although I am leaning toward a base sr5...
I have been watching Youtube videos and nobody really talks about the steering wheel material. As far as I can tell the limited and up has a stitched leather wheel, but it does not look like that on the sr5. It almost looks like there is a mold seam on the inner portion of the wheel so I assume its just a rubber type material? Does anyone know what it is or point me in the direction to find out? I had a Taco with a leather stitched wheel and loved the feel, I now drive a hybrid Corolla with a rubber wheel and am not a fan honestly. As small of detail as this is, it might force me to upgrade to the higher trim.

on my 24 limitied, heated leather steering wheel was an option. it added $150 to the options list. probably best to just go sit in some at the dealer and see what you like.

SR5 is molded at least for 22s to include the premium packs with Softex seating

I have zero issues with it after having leather on previous two trucks. But Tundra buyers are a particular lot so to each their own.

You can get the heated leather steering wheel as an option (WS code on window sticker) on SR5. I have it on mine... so I am not sure what the base wheel looks like.

Here is what it looks like opted onto a SR5. The top and bottom parts seem to be molded, but might be a smooth and very firm leather, and the sides are wrapped with perforated leather. I am not sure if this is the same exact leather wheel on the higher trims.

Awesome! Thanks for the replies. I will go in and check out a sr5 with standard wheel, but at least I now know the leather is an option.

The leather is nice... but the heat... the HEAT is the killer app!

3rd gen heated steering wheel is a joke. Not sure how they could screw it up.

Mine works well on my 24 limited.I like the fact that it will stay on till I turn it off. On my 23 gx460 it’s only stays on for a certain time then turns off, luckily I don’t drive the gx much.

If you have the option to get the heated steering wheel take it. It’s real nice in the winter months if your in a colder climate.

as for being between an sr5 and a limited I was in the same position when I was buying mine. The limited won since it had the long bed and was a crew max. Price difference was about 4000 between the two. SR5 was an off road model with a ton of options. Limited was the hybrid and had a good amount of options but no off road package. Glad I went with what I went with and got the little bump in features. Plus the long bed was the selling point for me.

What I meant was that, on mine, it heats unevenly and not very hot (compared to all the toyotas i had before)
