The "Cracked Seat Panel" MEGA Thread

My dealer ordered me a new panel, no questions asked. Should be here in a few days.

 

Well just got back from the dealer and they are ordering and going to take care of the cracking panel

 

2023 drivers seat trim cracked at 15,000 miles. Dealer says they will replace as a "good faith" replacement. Seems as if this is a known problem for years . A little crazy for a $72,000 truck to have this issue so soon.

 

Whole thread on it and they’ve redesigned the part. Had it happen to me as well.

the good faith statements always piss me off. Like really? I should be grateful a stupid piece of plastic is being replaced ?

 

Remind them it's not "Good Faith" It is well known that Toyota is covering this, and they are getting paid to do it. Hopefully the second one doesn't fail. So far, my second one has not.

 

I would have said to them, no it's me who had "Good Faith" in buying my Tundra from you.

 

Just noticed mine was cracking on drivers side, stopped by the dealership today, they ordered it, will get it tomorrow, waiting to get it scheduled. 23 Platinum, build date 5/21/23

 

Had mine replaced a couple of weeks ago. Seems more solid, fingers crossed it holds up for a while. The service guy said if/when it cracks again they’ll replace it free of charge, even out of warranty, so that’s good I guess

 

Just had both sides replaced , fingers crossed

 

New member to the broken seat club......Dealership inspected last week and goes in Monday to replace it, easy peasy!

 

You don't redesign a part for no reason. Anything that required a redesign is not a courtesy...it's required.

 

I would have then told them to remove that Good Will comment from the invoice because it makes no sence if its a redesign. If the redesign does not work then what?

 

Thursday, I noticed the 4th cracked seat panel and shortly afterwards had engine blow at 45K.

My 7th and last Toyota.

 

Toyota is definitely chasing the competition…

Any idea on the engine failure?

 

No idea yet. They thought it would be a few days to take it apart and then a Toyota rep would come to inspect.

 

Dealer fixed mine no questions asked. Thank god.

 

Have they updated the plastic trim or are they replacing it with the same crappy part?

 

It’s an upgraded part, but as another member pointed out, it’s cracking as well

 

It was a bearing and is getting repaired. While in the shop for the engine, I got a recall letter from Toyota for an issue that I thought was fixed previously.

 

Do you have the P/N? I need one for the passenger side. Local Toyota dealer won't replace it Never had an issue, thought i was a lucky one.

 

Yes it's power. Crazy right!? Dealer said Toyota was doing a one time goodwill but not anymore. Idk ‍♂️

 

Goodwill.. Toyota needs to fire the guy that designed the seat panel out of “goodwill”

I'm honestly a bit shocked no one in the aftermarket has fabbed a replacement panel either out of carbon fiber or alloy. I've had my 2023 for 14 months now. The stress lines started a couple months after purchasing and finally full on cracked this past weekend.

 

Noticed a stress crack in mine today....2024....presumably with the already beefed-up panel

 

Ticked off, have had Platinum Tundra 2023 for 6 weeks and panel broke off. (bought with 7k miles on it) but still.. really? I am 312lbs, but no other vehicle i have driven breaks off the controls. took it to Toyota dealership they said my vin is not covered. WTF.. does toyota not care about its customers anymore?
Anyone know how we can get some help, or team up on this.
