    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
Day off, doing some tinkering around on the truck.
Entire drive line greasing, The slip yoke moved about 1/8"-3/16" out, and then I heard a Creeeeek so I stopped
Manually adjusted the rear drums, I was surprised they took 20 clicks on drivers, and 18 on pass. Prob could have went more, but i didn't feel like fighting it back on.
Considerable pedal gained once again
Cleaned throttle body, was basically spotless anyway.
A couple "since day one" things.
Antenna has been flippity flopping around, I know it needed something, but I'm not ripping the fender off.
I hate putting holes in panels so I cringed doing this... don't know how you guys carve big holes (snorkels), and saw off rear panels (for departure angles/and custom bumpers) on good trucks!
Plow delineator with the reflective tip on there so they can find the body... if the rest of the truck is under water/buried in snow  It's a MI thing.
    20240419_135330.jpg 20240419_135335.jpg

Sanded and Cleaned the fuel inlet for a better seal, its been rusty af since I bought it. Lubed the lock/hinges
    20240419_134530.jpg

Lubed every hinge on the topper/tailgate/hood
Inspected the HomeDepot steel Stud rocker panels... 2nd winter and basically No Rust! Unreal hahaha
It also appears that the AT-205 has stopped all my minor oil leaks, excellent.
Oil looked fine about 1/2qt. low, filled it. The back of the fill cap had a good slug of white booger snot in it.
I really don't get this thing out enough/long enough trips... So I took her out for a Sporty rip Ody-off.
    I love this old truck:yay: ;)
    20240419_153940.jpg

Next projects heater controls and sealing up the cowl leaks.

Looks like the hood was repainted otherwise it'd look just as bad with the clearcoat.

I've bumped that before and disconnected it. Why does it have to be (for the 4.7) hanging out in the middle where it can get maximum leverage/bounce to pull off?
And speaking of that part, what is that little box? Check valve, filter?

it looks like it in that picture but I’ve seen others with the same damage. Also there is no indication this thing has ever had any paint besides what came from the factory on it.

They tend to change their mind when they get to drive it and see what the excitement is all about.

But letting them drive it? That can be a whole other problem for some.

Just get them to buy a 2001 or earlier Jeep Cherokee XJ starter vehicle for $5k to start out. Solid front axle and easy cheap upgrade possibilities.

We go to some pretty cool places and usually don’t break anything to important……. So I pretty much get free reign with the vehicles…………. sometimes I take the whole family, sometimes just one boy and sometimes both lil nuggets. While the first nugget was still in the womb, we actually had a really fun last camp out without children at the local mountain, a dope rain storm rolled over as we watched movies in the tent, got up early and fished the lake in peace!

I probably underestimate how far she could make it, but the only trails she will probably ever see are in the Manistee National Forest.
But depending on our next homestead she's def going to be doing farm duty, plowing, pulling, hauling.

I just got through my first full tank of fuel in my '06. I got a whopping 13.2 MPG.
Unsure why my fuel economy is so bad, I don't drive like a maniac. Though, most of my mileage is city and at various elevations.
Should I be concerned about something being wrong or just chock it up to having over 225k on the clock?

What's your gearing? What's your final drive ratio? Is it mostly city driving? Are you running ethanol free gas or that now 15% shit that's labeled 10% still...... Yeah as of 2021 it's now a 15% blend of ethanol. I have a buddy who works for shell in the upper management range, and the current administration has mandated that b.s. with no public notification.

Seems normal for city driving with elevation changes.
Might be worth cleaning the MAF and the throttle body though. Maybe running some seafoam

A cup or two of MMO won't hurt either after the seafoam. And ethanol free gas will help strip the ethanol residue out of your fuel system. 2 or 3 tanks should do it. Then just run one every month like I do. I'm up to 17.8 mpgs on the high way now.

    Gotcha.
Whatever the stock gearing and final drive is for my truck. '06, V8, 2WD, tow package.

Yes, unfortunately I have no choice than to use the ridiculous 15%(at least) ethanol crap fuel we have in commiefornia. I've noticed a significantly worse mileage and even performance out of my other two cars I've had since ~2019. Very frustrating. Hell, its probably more than 15% ethanol now. Who knows.

Maybe have your fuel injectors cleaned and checked? At the very least change your spark plugs if they’re old.

You can Google where non ethanol gas is near you. If that doesn't help, swing by your local drag or race track and ask the staff if they know where it's a available at the pump. By law every state is required to sell it for engines, like lawn mowers and farm equipment that are non compliant to an ethanol blend fuel. Here in Texas most QT and Marathons have E Free pumps at 87 or 90 RON ratings. It's currently 3.84 a gallon, down from 4.17 a gallon last month. Anyone know if Bucee's sells E Free?
