It's worth a shot to revert it to the original calibration ten try writting the new tune.

When I was 18, I worked a summer at the Pomona fair, one of the attractions I worked was the teacups, you had to get a ping pong ball into a porcelain cup floating around in water.

If you threw it directly in, it bounced out. I only saw infants that just "chucked it" to nowhere in particular ever get it in.

That must be what I did. My OCD says fix it, my fear says if it ain't broke don't fix it. The truck feels great and sniv said it is pretty well dialed in. I'd like to leave it alone. I'm going to try to for now.

I am soooo guilty of the same.

I read all the stuff y'all are doing and contemplate it.

see, my truck is running super well (knock on wood).

    like, near perfection well.

I know....damn good and well...the next thing I do will screw this thing up.

because, I have painted myself into a corner. I have made every semi-conservative mod I could.

well, the 77.5mm is a tad outside the scope of conservative, but, whatever.

the next mod would have to be intake & it's associated complexities.

    or exhaust mods.

all of which will bump my HP into the Icarus zone.

    so, here I sit....high center....watching ya'll with keen vision.

MAF Sensor update... We just got tracking on the MAF sensors. Should be here by the end of the week. I know a few guys are waiting, thanks for your patience, we didn't expect to sell out so fast. Anyway, we'll get them turned around same day as long as UPS comes early enough. Thanks again!

I'm in a similar boat. My Tundra is normally my weekend/play/camping vehicle as I have a company truck for Mon-Fri, but while working out of town, my wife uses it as her daily driver. I can't sacrifice any non-OEM reliability, starting, etc or I'll never hear the end of it.
My latest round of intake testing and retune for 80mm has it "safe" right now. Trying to leave it as-is for now and just enjoy it. All the while I dream of 77.5's, LT headers, side exit exhaust, methanol injection....

You’re probably safe with the 77.5 especially if you leave the rest of the intake like the stock TB and leave the 4” tube alone. I have found with mine that the peak boost hasn’t really changed much over the 80mm, the boost just comes on more aggressively at the lower RPMs. If I let it breathe more on the intake side I’m sure I’d see higher 11psi peaks or so though. I see 8psi under just 2500 rpm on the 77.5, and it only peaks at 9-10psi at redline.

Man o man,, if it is good to go and there is nothing funky in the files I would be thankful for what ever reason it worked. It can go sideways in a flash (HA!) so keep going forward and don’t look back unless you have to. Best of luck it continues to do good!:)

Just to follow-up on this, my old tune (ProSpeed) was running crazy lean at WOT, 15-17:1. The AEM widebands seem to be accurate and good in their current locations, thankfully. With @snivilous laying his hands on my truck, it's now running low-mid 11's at WOT and feels very snappy throughout. Still a work in progress, as my 90mm GM throttle body requires some fine-tuning of the tune to hopefully bring the AFR down a bit more.

Cool! I sent @snivilous a tune I worked out that seems to work for the GM 95mm TB. It still needs some work and hopefully he can give a few pointers. But it goes and shifts...a work in progress for sure!
Glad you're getting some resolution to the afr deal.

Thats awesome, I appreciate it! Me too, feeling a lot better than I did when I saw the previous numbers. What I'm trying to understand is why ProSpeed couldn't tune it richer...they kept blaming my fuel pump installation/something in the tank (because I wouldn't pay them to install it). It amazes that I've been running this close to disaster for the better part of 3 years on their tune. The only thing I've changed since having them tune the truck is going from dual 2.5" to dual 3" catback and the GM throttle body...neither of which should have made that much of an impact on fueling...

@armyoffoo that is crazy and you were lucky!
The 3 inch catback should have offset the 90mmTB increase in psi. My variation in afr's were only .5 to .7 leaner from the RCF 84mm TB to GM103mm TB. Plus I went to a 4.5 inch intake.
Since going with the GM 95mm TB I had to go from 1.18 to 1.23 PE in the 3600-6000rpm range. But I'm also spraying 30% W/M at 7-8psi on up to 12's.

ProSpeed got too big. They lost the warm fuzzy feeling a long time ago I’m afraid. Big money clouds their minds now! :)

So the weekend is fast approaching. Hope to do the SC install but looking for some info/help. So, I posted before about Magnuson stating that to use VF Tuner tune that comes with the SC, I have to have the latest stock calibration. Well. JustDSM was helpful and told me I dont have the latest stock calibration. Plans have changed and I am now going HP Tuners route, should be here tomorrow. So what I need to know now, to use HP Tuners do I still need the latest stock calibration also? Last thing I need is a bricked ECM.

I think you could still use the tuner that comes with the SC. It should still load it. Notice I said should...
HPT will read your ECU and generate a generic tune for you to modify. Do you have tuner lined up? @snivilous? He's a down right good dude...haha

I got to thinking after seeing Magnuson's 2nd calibration form. In it, it asks for your stock calibration ID. So, I think they build the tune based on the calibration ID you give them. I would think that HP Tuner would work the same, base the tune off my calibration ID and not the latest one from Toyota. Like you said, it should work but should isn't to reassuring. Yes I do have a tuner lined up @snivilous.

They tell you to make sure you're on the latest calibration because if you flash their tune based on your current cal ID then go to the dealer and they update your ecu, the tune file won't work anymore. Or, if you're on an older version, you may be missing out on some fix toyota applied via an updated calibration. HP and VF tuner don't care if you're on the most current calibration as far as using the software goes.

This is what I was thinking. If that's the case then the majority of us never update to the latest Toyota calibration because if you never have a issue then there's no need to visit a dealer.

So now that I will have HP Tuner software, what can I do with the VF Tuner dongle. I just got an email back from Magnuson that saying that the serial number for the dongle has been registered.
