@Ponderosa_Pine possible power source... I ran mine to a separate junction box in engine room from ignition switch fuse.

Considering that it's a total loss, I personally would just throw on half ass whatever OEM parts I have. I kept all the OEM parts form the SC install. I also keep OEM CO and rear shocks on hand, OE headlights also.

I am not a rule follower, especially with corrupt insurance companies. It's my truck till it's paid for by the insurance. Till then, it will be at my house and I will be doing whatever I want with it.

I just have to complain about the D3 software.

It is absolute fucking garbage. There's probably 20% at most of the capability of HP Tuners, and the controls are fucking awful. It's like they looked at HP Tuners and both made it worse, and tried to be different. Like the spark tables, they flip rpm and load compared to HP Tuners so you can't just compare two timing tables side by side (my Holley tunes have rpm on X-axis too, so it's not like it's HPT specific). Power enrichment is inverted compared to HP Tuners, but load multiplier isn't, but COTS is inverted, but injector constant is the same... And I can live with that shit. But what's truly awful is trying to manipulate a 10x10 grid of values, and you can't copy the whole table. You can only copy one single cell at a time, and once you paste it the copy function has gone away. Say you have two tables and want a row to be the same, well you're SOL you have to manually enter every single value. And you can't just type a value and then use arrow keys to move around, you have to type, then hit enter (to exit editing the cell effectively) and then use arrow keys. They have an interpolate function, great! Oh wait, all it does is copy the far right value to all the cells  Want to change the X or Y axis header values? Sorry you're SOL. Hey at least the tables have color to see flow, oh just kidding, because their software can only display about four colors apparently so 1 is colored the same as 9 because they are within an increment of 10.

And the hilarious part, they claimed to the customer that they had so much more functionality than HP Tuners. One can get away with being a pile of shit when you have capabilities no one else has. But for comparison, this is the spark tables they have access to--ALL of them:

    upload_2024-5-2_9-34-48.png

This is HP Tuners, and ONLY for spark advance, spark retard has it's own entire tab of shit:

    upload_2024-5-2_9-34-24.png

I remember VF Tuner being confusing to work with when I looked at it a few years ago, but at least they (seemed) to have all this extra functionality, so if you could put up with the software and customer support you got arguably a more capable end product. This is the complete opposite, it's a pain in the ass to work with, it's about the same price, and its scraps of capability compared to HP Tuners. I guess the only benefit arguably is it's less likely to brick the ECU? Probably because there's about four useful things that can be changed.

Oh and the other hilarious part is they use HP Tuners datalogging software to view their datalogs, that was a bridge too far to copy HP Tuners and make it shitty so they said alright we need to use their free datalogging software.

Fuel delete mod Cup holder upgrade
Just don't get HP drunk and chase big numbers OR get a built engine with supporting upgrades if you do.

Biggest Pro: is great Torque and HP throughout the curve; great for towing and hauling. The at the wheels #s beat 3rd Gen (even the hybrid which was designed for TQ/towing) as they confuse crank vs hub/wheel #s.

When you are not in boost the bypass lets the rotors spin unloaded so it takes ~1HP to spin the blower. Most people are getting stock MPG # cruising; fair warning though it will delete gas from the tank if you hammer into boost often.

Post install the truck won't be Raptor fast but it is pretty silly how powerful and quick Tundras can get even at 6K lbs. It is a sleeper and great for merging/speeding up.

Cons: aside from the points @snivilous made in his post about upfront cost, finding a competent installer can be a pain for remote locations. Last I checked Maggie will honor their warranty if an ASE mechanic does the install so that may be something to consider.

Magnuson probably requires the stock tune but you may want to get a custom tune after install. If you go with the Maggie TVS 2650 I think Sniv said that stock tune was much better than the old canned tune.

It may take a few runs to get the tune right so you'll have to be patient with this kind of mod. Not all trucks require it but some need more work to dial in.

Fuel cost will go up since you need to run premium. There are also some E85 builds but not many installers/tuners to support this option when I looked into it; there is a DIY thread buried on here from FiremanDan for E85. Most say the E85 route isn't worth it but the option lets you run cooler.

Tundra is overbuilt but you are eating into some of the reliability no matter how you cut it. Sniv's build has ~200K SC miles on it or getting pretty darn close. There are few examples of long term boosted builds but I've not seen anything above 300K (S/Ced miles). I think chasing big HP #s is the #1 killer of these trucks. With that said 1M miles may not be feasible I think 500K is possible boosted.

Since you are towing probably a good idea to get the valve body upgrade done.

Maintenance will have to change. If you are doing 10K oil change probably a good idea to go to 5K (some builders recommend 3K intervals for longevity) and a higher viscosity oil aside from 0w20 (5w30 or whatever your climate permits). The blower itself needs an oil change at 100K.

If you don't have a reader recommend a means of monitoring temps; engine + trans. SC specific AFRs and Boost some monitor fuel too. Space for mounting gauges is the limiting factor.

For installers talk to @snivilous . Sparks (in SC Mertyle beach) was still supporting Toyota warranties if they do the install but this limits you to TVS 1900 unless they've changed their policy. A little far, I know. I do recall someone talking about a west coast installer but don't remember which Toyota dealer did so.

Turbo looks pretty promising too but hard to beat the instant response of the blower. Edit: The turbo efficiency #s look good however.

It might be too late, and depending on where it is, they won't let you wrench on it. At least that was my experience when my 2012 Tacoma was totaled, luckily insurance worked with me on the supercharger and audio upgrades because I had receipts. The adjuster verified what I said was there and they bumped up their payout to me. If this ever happens again, I'm having the truck towed to my house first, then insurance can get their hands on it.

Especially with the addiction of the theft, they have to honor the audio loss.

I agree with your informative post with this minor exception. Stock SC kit on a tundra will give similar if not better performance than a stock ecoboost raptor. A “stage 2” supercharged tundra will have similar or greater performance than a tuned raptor ecoboost. Raptor R is of course a different ballgame.

Damn, that was quick! That sucks for sure.

So you can take that stuff off, but it also is a tricky sotuation. I took ALL of the suspension, wheels, and Supercharger stuff off my truck after it was hit and returned it to stock before it went to any shop. However, per most insurance policies, if you modify the vehicle after the wreck occurs, or after insurance has written it off, they can deny the claim. All that stuff is supposed to remain on the truck.

I'd covertly remove as much as you can before insurance or a shop takes possession. Assuming you have all of the original parts

Agreed, I did a draggy run with a Cobb tuned Raptor (2019....?) and my Tundra was faster to 60 by like half a second or more. It was kind of insane since the Raptor launching could chirp all four but then would fall on its face, where as the Tundra didn't have that much instantaneous torque but would pull consistently through the launch.

And that was at the same elevation and spot near my house. So the Raptor I would assume was at full power due to the turbos, and I was only at 7-8psi.

Ladies and gents an LS103 on a Whipple! Fired right and went for a drive. Drives much better than i expected.

Also moved the boost gauge line to the driver side, boost referenced the stock regulator. I’ll add the new one from turbokits.com once I’m back. Trucks running stupid rich which isn’t a bad thing. Excited to get it tuned. Awesome work @snivilous! Boost comes up stupid quick, more blower noise also
