Has anyone had their front hood piece pop out when semi trucks pass? I had this happen immediately after I bought it and had it replaced. Now it is doing it again and the service department will not cover it with the extended Toyota warranty. The clips that hold it popped out and only one is still attached. I am guessing I am not the only one with this issue. I might just add bolts myself.

I have the 2021 Nightshade model BTW

I've seen it happen on trucks with modified bulges to fit light bars, but personally haven't seen it on a normal truck. That said... I know you're not alone as I have seen a handful of Tundras in the world without hood bulges at all.

It happens on normal trucks as well.
I see it on the highway as I drive for a living.

    My 2014 did it.
I tried replacing the clips but it kept popping out on the highway.
It happened so much it broke one of the speednut mounts on the end of the bulge.
I tried several glues and expoxies for that plastic mount but nothing held.

I ended up ordering another hood bulge and it stopped popping up, for about 2 years.
It still does it occasionally, mostly in automatic car washes, but not like it did..

You can try replacing the clips and see how it goes.

Hood & Components for 2014 Toyota Tundra | Sparks Parts

    75867-AA010 - Rocker Molding Clip - 2002-2023 Toyota | Sparks Parts

I bought these, they worked for a few months.
    You may have better luck.
Amazon.com: 15 Rocker Panel & Scuff Plate Clips Compatible with Lexus & Toyota : Automotive

Be careful tightening the 3 bolts to reinstall it.
Too tight and it will snap the speed nut mount.
That is probably how I broke mine..

The earlier years of the 2.5 gens had the issue before Toyota went to an improved clip.

When did they go to the improved clip? My 2021 has the issue so maybe I can ask for one from a newer model?

It was a couple of years ago. I would look at all of your mounting points on the back of the bulge...they can break very easily. When you look at it, you will see what I am talking about.

I have a 2019. Started to have to travel more. Surprised the heck out of me one day when I noticed it after coming out of the store. I thought someone had tried to steal it LOL. Then saw it happen when driving. Just as you said, when I passed a semi…

What was their excuse not to fix it under the extended warranty?

I’ve had problems with mine warping in one corner. If you take it off be gentle, the clips are brittle.

I had a 2015 that I beat the hell out of and never had a single issue with that truck.
Just bought a 2021 last year that I planned on babying, but got in a wreck and the whole front end had to be rebuilt.
Now the bulge comes a little loose if you slam the hood too hard. But the bulge and grille are aftermarket. I assumed it was that.
Never experienced or heard of this before on a stock truck.
My guess would've been that it's an aftermarket piece, but I'm reading here that others have this issue?

I think it has something to do with the color matched stuff. The chrome one was way thicker. I was disappointed given the cost of OEM parts.

    None....
I always read the fine print. I have never seen a extended warranty cover...
Squeaks, rattles, light bulbs, brakes "All trim, molding, seals" any part considered a wear item, fit and finish. Plastic trim, rubber trim. Any other kind of trim. Seats, fabric, leather and any other type of seats, seat foam. Glasses, mirrors.wheel covers. Tires unless you buy an extra tire coverage... then most likely they still won't cover it. Body panes, paint. Taillights, headlight housing. Wiring. Rust damage. Rattles....water leaks...

Also the covered parts are only covered if our employees want to let it be covered. We will inspect your vehicle to find any reason to not cover it. Then it will go through several of our employees who get paid a bonus if they find or make up a reason to not cover it.

True, is this your line of work and do they really get bonuses for denying claims?

IF it was fixed previously while under warrranty i would contact toyota corporate, and the dealership, explain that it should be covered because it is a previously repaired item.

No, and if they paid all the claims they would get fired. I'm sure their are bonuses paid to keep warranty claim costs down. I know they pay people to go around and deny claims. Co worker had a construction strobe light on his truck. So they denied his warranty claim of a covered part. Because in the ten pages of fine print it said no business use is allowed. This was a $4,000 official Chevy warranty. He had to pay the 2,000 repair out of his own pocket. The claim adjuster took pictures of his truck. Most likely got a pat on the back and a nice bonus at the end of year.
