Joe did u just trade up to 2024 or do a lemon law on the 2022?

Your 2024 will probably have issues.
You can wait or be brave and park it a couple times at an incline and see what happens. If defected, want to find it early.

Yeah my 24 is parked on a incline every day. I'll keep track of how many times I see it happening

No I traded up because it was a truck I ordered in 22 that took forever to build. I bought the 22 while it was still on a train to my dealer. 1 1/2 years after that, the truck I asked for on allocation arrived (still not sure if that was my allocation or it showed up by chance). I have an inclined driveway, and have on occasion parked on it, but more often drive into my garage. My 22 acted up as you suggest when I parked on an incline though.

Someone posted another way to reset it that I always did that worked for me. When I pulled into my garage, I shut the truck off while still in drive. Waited a few seconds then put it in park, then restarted the truck and it reset. That method worked well for me and was seemingly less complicated.

I'm not particularly concerned if it does act up. I don't really pay much attention to the miles to empty, and this is probably my 6th or 7th truck so I know how many MPG I'll be getting. I fill up once a week no matter what.

Not a deal breaker - there's too many plusses about owning it compared to the fuel gauge issue. Coming from a Gladiator - Toyota treats me like a king compared to Stellantis/Jeep. The Jeep dealers in my area are horrible.

Joe thanks for your story. I agree. Toyota has been our best vehicles in the family. We are now all Toyota. Just don’t like to see slippage in quality, just ask Boeing n Disney n Starbucks.
I now reset my Trip A and go about 400 miles and fill up. It’s my temp gas gauge until this gets fixed. Otherwise you keep getting in the truck and trying to remember how much you had last time and hoping it starts up and doesn’t show full.
Even just some communications from Toyota to the tundra owners, giving us a little more detail about their investigation and troubleshooting would help us realize they are really focused on this issue since these are pretty expensive trucks and like I said, I think they are market share.

First time I’ve noticed it resetting to full more than once a fill-up. Second time resetting on this tank, so far. That’s a new one for me.

Wow. They’re gonna carry this bug into a whole new product line. Unbelievable decision.

Well here’s another. On my 2022 there was a recall for the rear backup camera malfunctioning. Reprogram some software. Well today my 2024 Tundra Platinum did the same. In REVERSE the multifunction screen went black.
I guess the 2022 software fox never got put into 2024 production line. This is crazy stuff.

So who is accountable to make sure 2022 vehicle problems don’t creep into the 2023 or 2024 production line. Seems like no one is monitoring that office. They must work from home. Toyota used to be better than this. Some people are in positions over their heads or are being pressured from those above to press on. Happening in lots of corporations s.

I have to wonder if due to the relatively low volume of trucks sold in 2022 a problem like this with only a few reports here and there, didn't get the attention it needed early on.

only problem is that the update was only applied to 22 MY tundra's. they wont allow it to be applied to 23/24 MY tundra's. so we as 23/24 owners are out on a lurch with no attempts to fix, where as the 22 has tried and failed and now are waiting for the next step in resolution where we as 23/24 have no way to even start for a resolution.

Nodak the lemon law is on your side. Get a newer truck even though it may not be fixed either n probably save some $$ since they are cheaper now. Follow your states requirements. Texas was easy.

Both my salesman from the dealer I purchased from and my advisor from my servicing dealer said they have never seen or even heard of the fuel gauge issue. Both are pretty large dealers.

My advisor is good and actually cares surprisingly. He seems pretty honest so kind of shocking he has never seen or heard about it.

Just another example of customer service dropping. I would switch dealers fast if they don’t know about fuel tank problems since 2022. Head in sand? All our dealers are aware. They can contact HQ if they cared and got educated.

Yep. When they try to tell me something like this it always makes me think of the used car salesman when you bring in a trade..."Man, I've got somebody looking for this exact make/model!"

Ever notice most all salesmen you deal with say they personally own the exact vehicle you’re interested in? LOL

Lots of good YouTube videos from retired salesmen and people who finally couldn’t sleep at night exposing all the tricks n deception n some illegal activities by them.

Salesman told me he’d thought about buying my truck and glad I did so he didn’t have the temptation sitting in front of his desk in the showroom HA! ….along with many other lines and tactics I learned from said YouTube vids. He’d been a manager at a high-end auto dealership before and was pretty advanced.

*As to the original post: they finally started a TIS on the fuel gauge and other items on the laundry list, including the driveline shudder, and sent me home in a Tacoma loaner.

MY24 and I just experienced the fuel thing. Out at the cabin, and parked on some very uneven Cambrian shield.
12k kilometers. Going,to,try the fuel reset.

Take it to dealer to get it recorded.
This will continue to haunt u.
Fill up tank and write down mileage and only go about 400-440 miles then fill up again. I also reset the A Trip odometer and use that. Your mileage to empty can’t be trusted.
If you run out of gas on the highway it will be a scary ordeal.
NHTSB needs to start getting involved.

the reset worked and gauge is where it should be given my trip. I did also reset trip an and will use that as a back up in the event this happens again and reset doesn’t work.

I haven’t had issues where my tank mysteriously fills itself up but I had a weird fuel gauge thing with my ‘24 last week.

I was near empty and stopped to fill it up. For some reason my gauge was still showing 20 miles until empty. I tried turning it off and on a few times which didn’t help. Then I tried letting it sit on a level surface for about 10 minutes which didn’t help either. I did the reset and that did the trick. Hopefully it was a one time thing.

Ok 2022-2023 tundra engine failures. What a mess. 97,600 vehicles recalled n new truck can’t be sold. Safety recall 24TA07. Says engine machining debris may be in engine causing failures. Toyota has lost their way.

Okay, I read this thread. And I've got a slightly different problem. I supposedly have the 32 gal tank. When full, my Distance to Empty only goes up to ~480-500 miles. Based upon the 19 mpg & 32+ gallons, it should be over 600. I even just let it go all the way down to just DTE 12 miles. But when I filled it up, I only took 27 gals, not 32. What gives?
