I looked at the buyers guide on the forum but it wasn't very helpful. I'm looking for a 3 or 4 panel. Uses existing tracks and lets me use the tie downs on the track. Folds up and latches to the front secure enough I can drive long distance. The BAK seems to be good quality but no idea on how they hold up. Lastly, I need to be able to get it in a week. Any good experiences fitting one on a gen3? Thanks.

I am currently using the Toptiny cover that I purchased from Amazon. The price is currently $499 with a $40 off coupon.

It fits perfectly and it's strong. It does want you to have the rails on your truck.

In my case, it sits snug on the tailgate, so you can't open the tailgate with the side button, etc. You have to pull it open with the handle.

I have not noticed any leaks.

It does fold up and secure next to the cabin.

Made of aluminum and easy to install.

It's the only one I've spent any time with, so I can't compare it to others.

Thanks. A good deal too. Looks like it comes off pretty easy? How does if fold up for travel?

It does fold up very easy.

There are clamps on each side of the two panels away from the cab. You release the clamp on the third panel and fold it to the middle panel (you cannot stop here. You have to fold these two panels up to the first). Then you release the clamps on the middle panel and fold the two panels on the first panel next to the cab. There are straps that clip in to the first panel to lock the panels together next to the cab (stacked and flat).

The first panel next to the cab has two clamps that attach to the rails, but unlike the other panels (which are quick release handles), these clamps have a bolt with a large plastic disc you turn to lock that panel in place. To remove the whole cover you would untighten the bolts on the first panel and lift the 3 panels off together while the are secured together.

It's really easy to do all of this, but as I said, I have no comparison to other covers. I just bought this one and figured I'd use it if it worked, or sell it if it didn't. So far (after about a year) I still have it.

I’ve been using the Bak MX4 for about a year now and overall I like it. On a recent trip the bracket to hold everything up to the can bent and it lifts away from the cab at highway speed. Comes with foam padding where it folds against the cab so it doesn’t cause damage and still works. I put in a warranty claim to see if it can be fixed but haven’t heard back yet. Overall it is a good cover and I’ve been happy.

I just spoke with Bak Industries and they have honored the Warranty request and are sending out a replacement cover. Customer service was great and an easy process. I like the cover but would consider their Revolver cover if I were to do it again. I like that it wouldn't block the back window the the bed is full opened.

I just installed a Lomax Tri-fold today. Seems like a quality product and I like the look of it, but can’t give you much feedback yet. I will say that it took about three weeks from order to delivery, so if you need within a week that may rule it out for you.

I appreciate the input. Any way you could send a picture of how it mounts and is it pretty solid when folded forward? Thanks.

I have had the OEM hard cover since I bought the truck in Nov '22, Really like it, have had no issues(no, it hasn't blown off - though I did put red loctite on the nuts on the fastener and it stays dry inside. One bonus feature - I had a break-in in Jan of this year at a hotel in Ashville, NC. They smashed the passenger front window to get in, rummaged thru the entire interior and tried to use a crowbar to get into my console safe and couldn't but did some serious damage to the plastics in the console trying. They also, tried to punch thru the tonneau cover. I found 3 dents in it, near the tailgate... but they didn't get in there either. I had a soft tonneau on my last tundra, and in todays world, am now really glad I have the hard cover.

some time ago, Realtruck acquired several brands that supplied truck accessories. Some brands included are Go Rhino, AMP Research, BAK as example. I’ve personally dealt with these three. Realtruck has central sales and customer service, but refers to the brands for technical support. They are very strict with their returns process timeframe. I would say customer support varies, but not as good as before the change (based on my previous experience with these brands). However, I would not hesitate to buy from them. You can go to their web site to see the others. Just my personal experience and opinion.

I just had to work with them for warranty support on my Bak cover. They didn’t initially respond to my email submission after 10 days so I called. Once I called it was super easy and after a 5min call I had my warranty claim approved and they are replacing my cover.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them again

It seems very solid. When the two folding sections are opened there is still a latch holding it to the rails and the bungees holding to the last panel.

    Just starting
I gotta say, I cannot recommend the Peragon version. Quality wise, it seems to be okay. Its the functionality that is killing me.
    • Cannot put anything in the front of the bed because it blocks the opening of the cover. I had an ice chest slide up there and I had to drag my old fat axx all the way up there under the cover to get it out. If I had known that, I wouldn't have bought this one.
    • When open, it blocks the front tie downs from usage without complete removal.
    • Easy to remove, but hard to get re-aligned to get back in. I eventually had to bevel off the edges of the front pins to get it to go in.
    • Cannot use stock tie-downs in the rails.
    • And the worst - not waterproof. Everything got soaked with the cover in place. I do a lot of tailgating (sports, not driving) and the 1st time it rained, I lost all my paper plates and napkins even though they were under the cover.
And then yesterday, it completely came out of the track while attempting to close it. @ChucklesToy got to see it happen 1st hand.

I'm trying to see if I can return it and get my money back now.

I have the OEM (which is made by BAK and is almost identical to the MX4) and it leaks like a sieve. I have added so much weather stripping to my bed to try and solve the issue and still get water in the bed. I think it is a combo of the bed design and the cover. The bed has some pretty large gaps around the tail gate.

Yes, very easy with simple hand tools (socket wrench and torque wrench), by myself. Took me roughly 90 minutes but I was going very slowly and meticulously.

Same issue, I've had the OEM and switched to the identical MX4 after the recall. BOTH leaked like crazy. I'm not in a high rain state, but my bed is soaked every rain and I've had some stuff ruined. Would love recommendations for more rain-proof options.

Big fan of my BAK MX4. Easy enough to fully take off which was a big factor in my choice. Love that you can also use the third brake light camera with it fully flipped up.

Im looking for a new cover for mine, my last tundra had the Bak flip (not sure if it was the mx4)
I thought it was great and utilized the full flip up to the back window several times. It did let in a small amount of water but some weather stripping would have fixed that.
Only thing I did not like was I lost the rail system for tie downs though, they did make a kit to relocate it, but for the price i think it should have come with it. From what ive seen there is no rail system relocation for our 3rd gens?
Ive been looking more towards the Bak revolver, obviously does give full access to the bed but seems more than the traditional folding covers, any pros and cons for this from owners?

I bought a Lomax Stance for factory bed rails to replace the Century/Leer fiberglass tonneau that was on it when I bought it. It went on just fine, the only issue I had was not having some surface prep for the bulkhead seal, and had to run into town to get some from an autoparts place. It folds up, and has a couple of things on the roof you have to stick on, and then a couple of bars that clip on to those things on the roof, and prevents the folded cover from resting against the glass or paint. I like it.

I had the Bak MX4 and really liked it. Mine also leaked a little bit but not enough to bother me. I ended having it replaced under warranty because the brackets to hold it full open bent and wouldn't hold against the truck any more. I was able to have them replace it with the Revolver under warranty and I am so glad that I did. I like everything about the revolver more. If you frequently use the full bed, the revolver is much easier and when fully opened you can still see out the back window. I liked the MX4 but would highly recommend the Revolver. For what it's worth, both my MX4 and Revolver came with the relocation brackets for install so that wasn't an issue for me.

Good info, thanks. I'll probably wait another month and a half to see if there are any black friday deals and get the revolver. Only con I've seen is the fabric/ nylon can detached from the metal in hot climates, I'd typically find one used on fb market but I want to buy new for the warranty just incase as I'm in Florida
