So I have a 2005 toyota tundra TRD RWD. And I am looking to get new suspension for it. Not to expensive but not pricey either. I have currently just spacers on it with rear leaf spring 2.5" took the mud flaps off. Currently running 285/70/17 tire size. But I want a suspension that is decent that will get me 3" - 4" of lift. What are my best bets. Don't want it to soft nor to stiff also

I think this means the same thing...What's your budget? I think you'll get a more accurate response if you disclose what you're actually willing to spend. I honestly don't think you're going to get 3"-4" lift on a tight budget. Have you read this?>>https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/
Specifically the suspension section? If not, do so.

Yeah, if you go more than 3", to do it properly without ultimately doing thousands of dollars in damage, you're not going to get off "not expensive, not cheap". Once you start lifting that high, you've got to replace a lot of other things. There are shitty companies out there that advertise kits to do it, like Rough Country, but it's all garbage and I'll never forget the one dude who showed up here after installing their stuff, with bent knuckles and all kinds of other fun stuff.

The thread @ATBAV8 linked, check the "Wheels/tires/suspension" section, that thread is a community collab, not my personal work/opinion. It'll tell you most of what you need to know and be aware of. If you're looking for a truck to lift 3-4", I feel like you picked the wrong truck. Unless you're throwing on a 3" kit, then bodylifting. Next move from there is 5" or 6" lift kit that requires irreversible cutting.

be more specific. My truck has only been lifted 2.5" but overall I got about a 6" jump in height due to my 285/75's.

are you just trying to clear tires? Off-roading? Daily driver? are you just trying to find some decent suspension to match the dog water spacers you have right now?

Hi guys thank you for the responses. So I already have tires 285/70/17. With just an eBay spacer kit 2.5" . I only do light off road when I go camping or dirt bike with my buddies and shooting. But want a decent lift also. Looking for a solid 3" but not a stiff suspension nor a bouncy suspension. Something decent in the price range of $1,000 & 1,300. Not trying to lift it more then 3" if i have to modify more stuff and cut things. Hope this helps you guys guide me in the right direction thank you all again

Bilstein 4600's on 2885's will basically give you what you're looking for. 4600's are softer shocks and will ride more OEM. While 5100's run slightly stiffer for better overall handling.

I have a 2WD DC as well and the 2885's on 5100's yielded almost exactly 2.5" of lift

and Hotshot Off-road can definitely get you that for the $ you're looking for. PM @memario1214 he works there

That's why i am looking around for new suspension. Anyone know anything about Eibach suspension or old man emu suspension. I really want to go for a 3" lift.

I doubt you're actually getting a full 2.5" lift out of the puck/spacer. But realistically speaking, even if you were, grab a ruler. Mark off half an inch. It's basically two lines of text in a reply on this forum on a regular LCD screen. Look at it carefully and think about it.
Basically, the last line I wrote and this line combined. Is that half-inch really doing something extra or special for you? Do you really think someone standing 20ft away is going to be, like, **GASP**! OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE HE LIFTED 2.5" AND NOT 3.0"!!!

No. They won't. Don't get hung up on half an inch, suspension isn't a dick measuring contest. That's basically not even the thickness of a small pinky finger. If you don't have a solid reason to do the extra half-inch, just go with what everyone else has found works extremely well, with good handling. i.e. 5100 w/2885 on a double cab. We have enough unique people floating around, the world won't miss having another snowflake who just had to be different

EDIT: I just took a digital caliper to my pinky finger for fun. It's 15/32", just shy of half an inch, at the skinniest part. Really puts things into perspective, to me at least.

5100's and 2885's if you wanna go the route that requires the least amount of $$$ for quality.

If you decide you wanna big dick it (like yours truely) get some 285/75/17's or 305/70/17's that's gonna be somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-8" of total lift.

I got 285/75/17's, I'm 5' 11" and I gotta do a little toe hop to get into my seat.

you just gotta remember our fender wells aren't really meant for THAT large a tire. So you'll be cutting and using a sledge hammer 100% and probably still rub. You'll also need new UCA's and maybe even spacers or a more aggressively offset wheel. Then you'll have to determine what needs to be cut. You'll also wind up having to pull out the fender liner so that leaves your intake having to be re-routed in order to avoid water getting sucked in.

    Weeeeeeeeee:rofl:

You bring up a good point.

2.5" lift with 2" taller tire is nearly 5" more lift. That's basically where I'm at right now. And the kids gotta put forth some effort to get in the truck now.

By math yes, all I can say is my running board sits ballpark 4.4" higher than pre-lift. Unless I measure as badly on vehicles as I do with wood.

That defies logic. The guy with the tiny one would be doing everything he could to get that extra half inch, my friend.

Straight up 6" gain on 5100/2885 and 285/75/17

it's maybe settled a bit. So probably more around the 5.5"-5.75" now. But it was a noticeable jump. Nobody under 6' has an easy time getting in my truck.

I’m a little over 6’ tall and typically have to use the step to get in the truck. I typically do that because even laterally, I’m squashing the side bolster in the seat lower sliding up and in.

    As promised, @OhFishyWarrior

Mind you seats were already ripped/worn when I got the truck here. But the curved lines to the lower holster are from me sliding in and out. Seat belt is hiding a full-on rip. I need to recover the front driver. Front passenger is near-mint, same as the rears
