Adding my 2¢, if you work slowly and make a concerted effort to never put pressure on the lip of the hole (which can crack off important parts), it’s not bad. I think I paid $60-something per headlight assembly? Watch the video linked in some of the retrofit threads to prepare yourself on the process, one of the YouTube vids, the guy cracks off something breaking up the reflector, that’s what you want to avoid. He then repairs it in a functional but not ideal way. It’s good to see.

Yeah, that's exactly what I pictured, cracking it, especially with 20yr old plastic. I've done new assemblies on my wifes old car a few years ago, was not impressed with aftermarket lens durability. They started flaking a layer... like a clear coat. Maybe I got too cheap a set.

Get CAPA-certified housings. If you shop on RockAuto, they'll tell you which are CAPA. Stick with DEPO, TYC, Eagle Eyes, you should be fine. Their products are generally solid.

Any bluish or other tint other than white to the LEDs? That would be a show stopper here. That cutoff area seems to show them; I just don’t know how visible they are to oncoming traffic.

The edges where the cutoff is has some blue to purple discoloration, you only notice if your close to a wall or object. I never see it when driving. The light output is pure white

Yep, Knabores on point, just bight the bullet and go Co-light- HUGE upgrade. I had some issues getting the doggone things horizontal because mine had an adjuster screw in the center of the projector, that needed to be slightly rotated. Once I figured that out, the cutoff was level and all needed was to adjust the housing as you normally would (with the housing). It really is super easy, its just the unknown that is worrisome initially. Oh, you will likely need a resistor once installed to get fogs and highbeams working properly. The company I used was called Superbright-LED or something to that effect, 209Tyler on Youtube has the link, I may have posted it was well. I bought two, but only needed one to get all operational. Its been like 4 or 5 months since and zero issues and zero people flashing me on the road. All good!

I do have a purpleish hue or haze at the top of the cutoff that I can seen. Its not a biggie to me as the pros far outweigh the negatives. My girlfriend made a point of always making a comment about the hue. Doesn't bother me, I can finally see the road ahead of me!

I believe it’s the 2003 and up that need resisters. I didnt need any with my 2000.

To get co-light LED projectors or not…Hmmn, I probably only drive 20-30 hours total per month at night so 30x12 = 360 and at 1000 hours, that give me roughly 3 years on the ultra silverlights. What to do.

Downside is if I got a $5 ticket, it’d be a $150 penalty on my insurance.

Edit: Nevermind, the halogens are a bad choice due to their extremely poor life:

No resistor on my 2000. Only issue is the blue dash indicator for hi-beams no longer illuminates.

Thanks to everyone for all the info in this thread.

I'm still on stock halogens in my 2006. I restored the lenses with 2K Clear, and that made a big difference.
But to be honest, they're still weak.
I think I'm going to pull the trigger on some Co-Lights in the near future.

Side note - When I had my windows tinted on this truck, I had my full windshield done as well.
My previous truck had the same treatment, but I told my guy this time around to go one shade lighter.
My old man eyes are going downhill and it's getting a little sketchy at night, especially going around corners.
I had a couple close-calls with kids on E-Bikes blowing through 4-way stop signs with no lights on.
I drive like a grandpa, but still had to slam on the brakes both times . . . good thing I was just slow rolling.

I'm thinking the Co Light's will also be a nice safety upgrade as well.

I finally just installed a set myself and mind are way high. Did you have to pull bulb and just eyeball that horizonal adjustment?

I ran silverstar halogens for years and they only last 1-2 years and light output was mediocre. I bought new housings from the Rock and CO mini projector lights when they first came out. I used tin snips and needle nose pliers to remove the bulb shields. I set the rotation to horizontal with the housings on my kitchen counter eyeballing the lens hoods and using the Allen set screw. They are too high and adjusting the housings to the proper level looks like crap so I accepted a compromise with beams adjusted a little high. The light output is intense white with a small blue streak but it’s really bright. Interestingly I never get flashed by oncoming drivers. Hoping someone comes up with a fan less LED projector that is correct height for us. Perhaps an angled shim washer could slightly depress the projectors.

I may just go with the co-light when they go on sale. Looks like I can most likely adjust the light output with an external dc/dc buck converter…just got to find the right one.

You all don't have issues with your fog lights doing weird stuff? Do either of you have aftermarket headlight harnesses. KNABORES I was thinking you had a headlight harness or did you remove it?

I have a 2000 with an older lighting setup compared to the newer 2003 and up. Mine doesn’t care about LEDs. But I did update my wiring harness with the relay setup and bigger wires.

I did the same on my 01 and my fog lights were being weird and I had to make some changes. Wonder if something changed from 00 to 01?
