Hi all! I was very excited to get a 2005 V6 regular cab Tundra recently, and I've been trying to add cruise control with the help of this wonderful forum. I did the same thing that was discussed in this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/adding-cruise-control-to-a-2006-tundra.82064/

After adding the control switch to the wheel, cruise still doesn't work and the light doesn't illuminate on the dash. I swapped it for another control switch just in case that one was dead but it still doesn't work. I'm wondering if maybe my truck doesn't support cruise control, even though it sounds like they all did? Does anyone happen to know if the base V6 regular cab doesn't support cruise at all, or have any other ideas to try?

Thanks so much for all your help!!

Looking back at the old thread, I had to add the wire to the clock spring connector. He probably needs to do the same thing.

Thanks so much for the help @dbittle ! I added the wires from the switch to the connector like the photo you posted, did you have to add any other wires beyond that?

Hmmm. The switch, the new cable and the steering column cover should be all that are required. I went back and looked at the PDF I had attached to the old thread. It was an install on a base model V6 that didn't have a cruise control light. That person switched a wire position to have the limited slip light come on when cruise was activated.

Just wanted to update and thank you for the help, I got it working! I hadn't noticed the PDF at first, realizing that the base model doesn't have the cruise light on the dash was what I needed to know. I kept thinking I wired it wrong and tried it a few different ways thinking the cruise light would come on when I got it correct.

I for one appreciate the follow-up. That could be good info edit into the original post/thread on the subject. Is the missing light just a matter of "no bulb" in that spot? I think miles are stored in the cluster, not the ECU so swapping would throw off the miles. I can't imagine Toyota made two different clusters! Makes more sense they just wouldn't include the bulb.
