Been eyeing this 2006 DC 2WD Darrell Waltrip Edition, w/ 205K. Recently posted about the body rust on the rear wheel wells. Decided to go for it anyway, after some negotiation, for $5,500. Might have been able to whittle that price down a little more, but damn these things are hard to find in good condition so I caved. Been obsessed with this model for a while, for reasons that aren't entirely clear to me. Not a big NASCAR guy or Waltrip fan (though both are cool?). Don't love the graphics. And I typically wouldn't buy a 2WD, as I'm in snow all winter and a fair amount of mud and dirt in the summer. Something about this one spoke to me, though. Maybe because they are rare (only 2,000 made), or that they are a First-Gen time-capsule. Needs some TLC--pretty dirty, and the slick BBS wheels got harvested. But otherwise, I like that it's largely unmolested; I've seen 4wd versions going for $17k+ with crap wheels and all the decals stripped. Love that this one still has the DW signature floor mats and factory stereo w/ cassette. Lol. The special edition mesh grill is truly rad, as is the TRD dual exhaust. Planning to do some restoration and upgrades, but will keep it as pure as possible. Far from perfect, but frame good, engine strong, and Carfax clean. Still might be some unwanted surprises, but did great on the 11hr drive home, and gonna clean up real nice. Will post progress pics soon.

If you ever pull that grille for any reason, hold onto it. It'll only fit other DC trucks, the AC/RC version has shorter "legs" on the lower corners. But they usually sell pretty well.

Copy that. Feel like I've seen some cheap knock offs of this grill out there, too. But no plans to cannibalize the parts any time soon. Looking forward to spiffing this one up and enjoying for awhile.

The wheels on the truck currently are cheap-n-ugly American Outlaw, not the stock wheels that the Waltrip came with originally. The plot twist, however, is that I actually have a set of the original BBS wheels that I found locally last year on CL for $250. Was gonna run them on another truck, or maybe just sell them, but now I'm very stoked to return them to their proper home. Updated pics coming soon.
