You are kidding yourself if you think the part numbers for bearing 1 and 4 have nothing to with the engines seizing and those bearing imploding.

It could be a thousand different things but I feel like the least likely is, “hurr durr it’s just a bad design.”

On the contrary, I'm ready to buy the new Tundra. I'm waiting for the price to fall and snag a deal. I don't care if it's one of the effected ones. Toyota will do right and fix it. They always have and will when their reliability is on the line. You can't say that about the domestic manufacturers.

It is not clear that Toyota will have a remedy next month. All that Toyota has said is they will begin notifying affected owners of the recall. The remedy may take a while.

It would be in Toyota's best interest to have a remedy when the recall notifications go out to give owners some peace of mind, but I'm guessing the remedy will take more time to formulate.

If the fire risk remedy isnt ready yet and thats likely easier to do....doubt this remedy will be out/announced any time soon. :(

Why don't you wait? Let the bottom fall out then get a deal. If you play it right social media can be a useful tool.

I could, but realistically speaking I do not think the bottom is going to fall out any further, in my view.

2025 will be the year that will keep resale value up. 2022-24 will always be in question. Basically test models. Bottom will fall out on the last gen 5.7 after Toyota has these current issues buttoned down on the this twin turbo.

I don't think the gen 2.5 with the 5.7 V8 will see the bottom drop out. If anything, the prices will improve. There are just too many people wanting the old school V8s especially with all the insecurity with the V6TT. People simply don't forget even if the problem is resolved. People always remember the problem but never the fix.

Maybe, just Toyota had to put a lot of money on the hood to get rid of those last 2.5 gen models. Toyota will get the twin turbo engine going, and only a select few will want a 13 mpg vehicle. 2025 or 2026 will be the ones to own.

The bottom will not fall out on the 5.7L because there will always be the group that will die on the V8 hill. It doesnt matter what evidence or logic is applied.

That’s just it. You die on the v8 hill.

It does not die on you.

Could it be the ZDDP is corroding all the bearings - those are just most prone to spin due to load forces? Toyota has confirmed abnormal bearing wear on trucks without failures - I don’t think they specified which bearings.

From what has been reported mainly #1 and #4 bearings are failing. Not 2 and 3 bearings. Also 1 and 4 are larger in size from the 2 and 3.
Could bearings 1 and 4 be made with a different compound? There is a reason why the two smaller bearings 2 and 3 are not failing.

I hope it works out for you. If Toyota is dropping crate motors in, I guess I’d be okay with that, but would still expect a LONG extended warranty given every harness, mount, etc is being disconnected or removed. If Toyota’s idea is to rebuild parts and use short blocks, not a chance in the world I could live with that. Might want to wait and see what they propose.

Don't be jealous. I'm not in the recall group yet, but could end up getting two engines for the price of one!

Depends on when the supplier had built enough parts to go into the assembly line.

8 min mark for full ad revenue these days on YouTube. I watch him at 1.5 times speed. It's funny. People tell me I talk too fast and my issue is people talking too slow. I just watched a video today at 2x speed.

Good move. I just drove Western North Carolina to Ft Lauderdale 812 miles today. 12K on the truck and it keeps driving better. 22.5MPG for the entire trip.

It is a good video and has very good thoughts. He makes it very clear most of what he says is deduction from information he found and his career. There is little fact here and often folks confuse “story” with “facts”. Actually there is little fact anywhere and certainly not on this forum. The two things I think is interesting were comments about “if” it becomes an engine “lot” issue, meaning not all may be affected, and the comment about “maybe” filters caught debris before it become a problem, Which frankly is what filters are for.

He also doesn’t want it be sued by Toyota. Appears some people have already been removed from this site for posting changes in parts numbers. Facts are #1 main bearing is failing and some #4. #2 and 3 are not failing. Safety recall is not including 2024 models which have those new part numbers.
