So I just acquired a 2021 tundra, love it so far, gas gauge was at half from the dealer, filled up , drove home, drove the next day, truck sat for a day and a half and when I went to drive it again, the gas gauge needle reads as above full with the truck on and when the trucks off the needle sits right on the full line. My digital gas gauge still reads miles as i was full then decreasing as i drive now so i still have some way of seeing if the truck has fuel. any fixes? i tried the truck on, shift to drive, shut truck off wait and then shift to park but that didnt do anything to my needle. Any fixes other than that which wouldnt be replacing the needle?

This is entirely normal for most rigs when full. I can usually go 50-60 miles before it drops below “full”
On the other end, it will drop faster.
Also expect to have 6-8 gallons of “reserve” when the fuel light comes on…your 38 gallon tank will take 30-32 gallons to fill.

only thing confusing me is it reads 256 miles left which was below half just barely when i bought it from the dealer, after filling it did go to full then it randomly jumped to the farthest point above full , thats normal?like it isnt on the "full" line its way above it

Yea, mine goes past full a little, every vehicle I've had did, but not that much. I never have DTE up on my display but I always fill my tank and reset my tripometer, 400-440 miles is roughly what I get before needing to refuel. I'd at the least disconnect the battery for a bit and see if something resets, worth a shot.

Exactly this, Its normal to go slightly above the "F" but that seems much farther than normal, and definitely farther than any gauge I've ever seen.

Does the gauge seem operational otherwise? I would be inclined to chalk it up to a neat quirck about your truck. I'd rather my gauge do that than the empty light come on and I have a whole 8 gallons (30%) of the tank left!

    Ok
That picture tells a different story
    That’s fucked up
“Above full” is like a needle thickness at most- not half way to the other side.

Changing the needle isn’t really an option, but something ain’t right with the gage cluster
I would start with pulling the negative battery terminal for ~15 minutes to fully reset all the various computers

Note that doing so will reset any mileage/mpg calcs and your truck will think it can go ~600 miles on a tank for your first 3-4 tanks after that.

Also - you are still under the factory warranty (maybe barely depending on original sell date of the truck) - get it into a dealer to get the issue documented so it’s on record before the warranty is past.

Update : the gauge ended up resetting itself after a couple weeks and it’s back working normally again. , not sure what caused it in the first place but it’s accurate and normal again , thanks for the replies to the post everyone
