Without using something like Carista, has anyone discovered a way to change the DRL setting so that they’re always on without having to have the lights set to Auto? I like the visibility of the them, but hate having my lights switch on because the truck thinks it’s getting too dark.

I saw that, but that prevents them from coming on when on the headlight switch is on Auto. I’m looking for the opposite. Keep them on, even when the headlight switch is on off.

Not that I’m aware. Off is Off so you have a quick way to shut down all lighting.

Don't know if this helps but when I drive my 21 around the campground at night I select running lights and that gives me DLR instead of headlights

I put mine to running lights as well. When I pull out of my shop driveway it's a small hill at the road and I do that to keep from shining my light at the house across the street.

Fellas, has anyone figured this out? Not to hijack the thread but I’m looking for something similar.

I want to be able to control the brightness of the DRL when the running lights are on w/ dogs in as well. Once you switch the fogs on it drastically dims the DRL’s.
    Was
I was able to do this to my Fords using Forscan.

Besides Carista, is there a way to accomplish this on my ‘23 Trd Pro?

I’m in the same boat. Came from an F150 and I sure do miss the configurability of ForScan. But there doesn’t appear to be a way to do it on the Tundra. I resorted to the running lights option. What I don’t like is that I prefer to keeps the fogs switched on so that they go on/off with my headlights. But they still come on when switched to running lights as well which makes no sense.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Crazy how Toyota used to do this and then stopped. Gen3 4Runners ('96-02) have this feature (half power to main headlights always during day) and many don't like it so they hack around it. LOL I like it for obvious Safety reasons. Yes I don't like how the back up camera darkens up just because I turn my headlight On for my newer Toyotas - it knows its daylight so why dim things - silly Toyota logic could be improved there.

Not getting you totally what y'all are asking for, you can change the ambient light setting to adjust when the Auto lights come on. A darker setting would mean the DRLs are on longer before the headlight comes on or in the morning the headlights go off earlier.

My original post was about a potential way to have the DRLs on without having to set the lights to auto as I prefer to have the lights come on when I want them to. For example, with it on auto, they come on every time I pull into may garage. On Fords, there’s an app called ForScan which gives you hundreds of customizations. One is for the DRLs to be on regardless of the light switch setting. Carista doesn’t have that setting. The suggestion here was made to keep the switch on running lights.

Does this setting get you close? 1 The side marker, parking, tail, license plate, instrument panel lights, and daytime running lights

Keeping it set to the running lights mostly does. I just can’t keep the fogs turned to on as Toyota decided to enable them when the running lights are on. Not sure why they enable them when the headlights are off. When I used auto, I kept the fogs turned on and they only came on when the headlights turned on.

What blew my mind was that in the states you don’t have DRL’s. In Canada every vehicle has to have drls on at all times. Was weird seeing cars come at you on the undivided highway with zero lights.
