Yep. Had a 180 before this and loved it. This is twice the boat though. The all electric is so nice! After running the new boat for a week my wife took our old boat out last night to put it on the trailer and thought something was wrong with the throttle and steering.

I’ve had a new 215 for a few weeks. Need to get some pics…
Ordered it with the DEC/DES primarily do get the wife to operate it more. Well, mission accomplished- she wants to drive all the time now!
Looks like you’re in the low country?

That's awesome, I tried to get my wife to look at a 215, but she wasn't interested in the DC. We life on the lake and live a couple hours from the coast. We had the 180 for a year and a pontoon for several years, but have sold both those in the last couple weeks after picking up the 216. But the wife has absolutely fallen in love with the new 216. Just spent a week at the beach, had a house on the canal so boat stayed in the water. Had an absolute blast fishing, crabbing, and cruising. Caught a ton of Spanish and some Sea Bass about seven miles out. Even caught a puffer in the cast net.

Got a pic today. Ordered it in June and I’ve had it a few weeks. Broke in the engine for the most part and then rigged the chartplotter and dual battery charger. Instead of helm/lounger seating, opted for twin helm chairs since 80% of our boating is just me, wife and the pooch.

Whatever this forum told me to do
just sharing a fine moment in customer service.

The boat is due for winterization & also putting some neat lighting on it for when we are out in the evenings....oh, and adding a stern thruster.....because the damn boat is un steerable when it goes slow. ( i'm a bad driver & docker)

so....we get the notification, parts are in & we need to get the boat over to the service shop in Conroe..Htx watersports.

so a few minutes later...I get a text from our salesperson*....volunteering to come to the house & get the boat, take it to the ramp, and put it on the trailer & take it to the shop.

see, they knew we lived an 90 minutes away.

    that's just awesome.

    Kudos to Htx watersports.

*We store the trailer with Htx. since they needed an X26 trailer to haul boats around & we needed a spot to store it....bam. so they reciprocated with nice customer service.

    Electrical question

my lift motor got submerged when Lake Conroe rose 3 feet

what’s the over/under on the motor surviving?

our electrician says he’s going to clean it and dry it out. Megger it. And see if it runs

    50/50?

Comparing test data of your 215 to my 216, I am surprised that the speed/burn rate is as close as they are. Hull is the exact same I understand but my 216 is heavier and (I assume) has greater wind resistance. But yet with the same engine/prop combo the performance difference comes down to a rounding error. Can anyone explain this?

The performance reports differ by 200 rpm. If you adjusted the 215 rpm (3,600) to the 216 rpm (3,800) yields a speed for the 215 of 31.6 mph.
Also, could be a difference in tide direction if they’re using gps for speed, which they should. Down here, a ripping tide can run a few knots or more and the delta running with and against the tide can be a few mph.
With just myself and about 1/2 tank of fuel I hit 51mph (gps) @ 5800 rpm. Not sure if I was running with or against the tide:D

I wasn't referring to optimum cruise, I see those are different. But the whole of the RPM range, at least once up on plane, seems to be almost identical. I'm sure they tested these in a lake near Greenville or possibly on the Pamlico so should be much tidal effect, but to your point there are other factors to consider. I've hit 51 on GPS barely on my lake with just me and less than half a tank and I'm sure that was with a strong wind at my back! I guess I just overestimated the wind resistance of the T-top vs your windshield.

They usually test at Atlantic Beach, NC, when doing videos anyway. As to wind resistance, I almost always have my Bimini up, so they may actually be similar.
Here’s most of their disclaimer from the performance report:
“The following variables can affect performance: wind, current, sea conditions, speed, engine performance, transducer, trolling time, engine trim, bottom paint, trim tabs, curtains, tops, gear placement and prop size/condition/type. This report should be used only as a general reference guide. Prop size, pitch and prop features listed in this performance report reflect the available props factory installed on new boats…”

motor was only on for 10 minutes.
never went higher than idle speed.
toodling out of dock to see fireworks.

overheat warning after only 5 minutes.
    maxed @ 280degrees.

I can't imagine the block being able to reach 280 with no load @ idle only in 5 minutes.

I guess my impeller got blocked?

what do y'all guess could cause such a quick overheat?

what do y'all guess the damage will be?

    freshwater cooled. closed system.

    I'm betting impeller.

that seems to be the least expensive, right?

I'm a new boater...so what gets hot THAT quick? the exhaust manifolds?

maybe they forgot to explain the acronym for a boat.

as to being helpful towards your overheating, unfortunately I'm not helpful in that department. But as naive as it sounds, what kind of cooling system is on the motor? I'm assuming it doesn't have a radiator?

Edit: scrolled down to see that is freshwater cooled. Which then I tend to agree that something is blocking the system or maybe it had a leak somewhere and there is nothing in the cooling system?

yes, closed system, but I don’t fully understand the whole system. It got hot fast

service guy predicts it was blocked impeller

as soon as I lowered it to get it out of the dock (the lift tilts the bow up a tad to drain to rear bilge) it belched out coolant from the Bilge.

Had to get it towed over to service yard

In general terms, if closed cooling you’ll have 2 pumps. One will draw raw water and feed the heat exchanger that cools the engine coolant. The engine coolant will be circulated through the heat exchanger and the engine itself by a second water pump on the engine.
It could be a hose issue - loose or kinked. Impellers - raw water and engine coolant. Heat exchanger - blocked or otherwise. Thermostat - staying closed.
If it belched coolant (antifreeze) from the bilge, that’s on the engine side and could be just a loose hose or hopefully not something more severe.

I'm guessing it's not the raw water impeller but something with your closed loop system. If you are saying that coolant came out of the bilge. Also if it got hot that quickly from idling 5 min. it seems like it was probably not getting any coolant at all. But as I mentioned, I'm an outboard guy so I may be way off.

    Impeller shredded.

so it also needed to have the cooling system flushed.

I say this again...when the impeller "shits the bed", the motor gets hot quick....even at idle.

live an learn...and yes, everything/anything, related to boat fix'n costs about $1k.
