    Update #3.

It took about 2 weeks for the dealer to receive the parking/camera ECU. They installed it within a few hours and had to recalibrate all the cameras. Everything seems to be working now. The ECU itself cost 1200. Estimating the labor cost, the total repair would likely be around 2500 if out of warranty.

I had that on my first 3 Gen with TRD Off-Road, it stitches images together to represent the ground view under the truck with 2 rectangles representing the tires. Pretty cool.

Yes, that’s the trail cam that uses the front camera. I have it on my TRD OR. I would assume it’s an OR or Pro thing.

I have the same issue as “theripper”, but a little more involved. I got a “Trailer backup assist malfunction” warning on my dash and whatever happened also caused my backup camera to lock up. I can only get one view now , and I no longer have the grid lines. My truck is a 2024 tundra limited and has 3300 miles on it. Took it to the dealer and they have no clue right now what’s wrong. They tried disconnecting the battery, checked the fuses, and even tried deleting my trailer settings, and nothing worked. I’m hoping for a follow up call tomorrow with a solution. Dealer has to call somebody in the upper tech dept to figure this out.

Take it to another dealer. I had to take mine to two before I found someone that knew what they were doing. In the end they told me they reprogrammed the module from scratch (whatever that means) and everything is working again.

My 2024 1794 has the same camera issue - I did find this recall bulleting from 2022: 22TA04. It calls for the tech to re-flash one of the computers. But it bothers me that if this was known in 2022, why are vehicles 2 years later having the same problems? Oh well, back to the dealer it goes.

Mine is doing the same thing. The camera viewbuttons are all greyed out and I do not have any reverse guidlines.

The VIEW virus arrived and infected my truck yesterday. 3800 miles. From this thread, it seems the truck must go to the dealer to get fixed.

Well I caught the virus too. '24 Capstone with 1500 miles, and I'm not looking forward to wasting time at the dealership.

Same thing happened with me. ECU part took months, then they found a bad switch. Most of the system is now working, but just this morning my view button started not working again. Grrr.

Seems to be a problem consistently occurring in the 2024s in their early days. Seems some get a refresh and others need a new ECU (electronic computer unit I suppose?). Does the solution bring new features like the terrain view? Wish Ryan was around.

Known issue, my dealer was aware. Cameras need to be recalibrated. Got mine back in about 90 minutes. According to them, Toyota is aware of the problem and working on solutions. It'll be either something we can do from home or a recall/TSB. In the meantime, just have it recalibrated and hope that it sticks.

Can you elaborate more about what the "recalibration" is that was performed that I can share at my dealer tomorrow for this service? How is the repair specified on your receipt? Is there a code number of something I can describe at the shop. My local dealership is rather small and may not have had this repair so want to be prepared to help them. Thanks.

Dutchcontractor, any update to report? I’ll see my service advisor later this morning.

The only OTA updates I am aware are to push new versions to the multimedia system.

Visited local dealer this morning to address the "VIEW virus". First visit to Toyota service ever. Nice facility, attended to immediately when driving in. Disappointed that all my personal and truck data in the Toyota app and in the online appointment schedule was not imported to my service record. Had to be keyed in, now I am in the local dealer's system, could have been more efficient, but this is small and I won't worry it. Service advisor was not aware of the problem for the camera, but no problem because he sees lots of cars lots of problems. I had a list of 4 things we talked through which were in my appointment request but he could not see it. When asked about the possible 2nd fob, he pointed me to contact the selling dealer, which is not the process but I did not push it.

Was there for 90 minutes tops. Service made the repair... "recalibration" which was not described very well and I am not sure exactly what it is. Probably more of a resynch across the trucks network and communication restored across the devices. The VIEW virus is successfully disinfected. They also treated my request to activate chirp for fob locks, unlocks. Disappointed I did not get a service receipt for my records like Dutch got. I was not offered a wash. I was very pleased with the event, the people, and the process. Will return in 1200 miles for the first oil change.

Just got my truck back as well. Not much description of the service on the receipt, it simply recites "verified customer concern, performed reset of camera system, no issues at this time". Was assuming I'd get a car wash out of deal in exchange for wasting my time, but unlike every other visit to this dealer in the past 9 years, no dice.

The driver's side seat rail bracket cover fell off and hit the pavement when the kid delivering the truck opened the door, and he simply tossed it back on the floor for me to fix, I suppose. Not a great look for the business!

Been playing with Techstream and I got the head unit into diagnostics mode and played with the cameras. I think I can reset it myself next time.

Just caught the camera virus on my 24’ 1794 at 1800 miles. Dealer wants it back for a few weeks, so they can create a ticket to corporate. what? Told them about the recalibration but they don’t seem interested in me solving their problem. Said the data on the module is showing up bad. I said how do they know? Then he gave me the same code others have posted. I may be wrong if they can see other bad data other than the code. When this happens did you loose the low speed auto switching to the front camera along with losing the rear lines? I still can see the front camera if I hit the view on the dash. This is my second 3rd gen tundra, got rid of the 23’ Army Green Limited 4x4 due to all the quality issues. Frustrating.

Low speed auto switching went away for me. Make your dealer look into the calibration. Nothing is broke, it's just a software issue.

Thanks, I’ll push for the calibration. Not the best first impression from this dealer, bought at another hours away.

I hate dealers. This is first time in many years that I had to go to one and my local one told me to take it back where I bought it when I dropped it off. My head almost exploded and I told them to not come at me with that shit because when you buy a new Toyota they will all tell you that you can get it serviced at ANY Toyota dealership. It got all taken care of in the end, but it would have just been nice when you give them the keys to your new $80k truck to get a "We'll get it done."

Agree. This dealer doesn’t even have any cars on the lot. They never have any inventory unlike their local competitors. Should have been a sign, but I dropped my wife’s car off across the street at Honda. Today they have two trucks, one of which, is a demonstration..Oh and a $90k capstone Sequoia. Of course I didn’t buy there. There was nothing to buy. To me, it appears they only make money in service so maybe that’s why they want the part replaced.

There are many videos out on YouTube to recalibrate and get the camera gridlines back on other Toyota vehicles. I’m sure it’s a similar procedure for the Tundra…
