Shopping for a 2020 or 2021 2nd gen. Torn between cement and army green. Army green is more rare only 2021 (not including 2020 pro). Cement is nice too. Can actual owners of either share your thoughts- pros and cons?

If you like both that is a decision you have to make. See both colors daily, and I'd be AG hands down for me.

@TaquitoBandito and @Terndrerrr are some AG owners

@Patch999 is an owner of a cement. Maybe they will chime in.

I have owned both colors and I prefer cement. By no means was army green a bad color but in certain lighting it didn't even look green whereas cement always is a good color no matter the lighting or time of day. For me personally the decision would come down to which truck was nicer because you really can't go wrong with either color.

I didn’t buy my truck for the color, but I really dig it.
Agreed. I actually like that it’s not super GREEN all the time. In different light conditions, it looks like very dark green, dark gray, or even black.

Here it is in varying lighting conditions.

    Direct sunlight. VERY green:

    Always looks darker in Colorado:

@Js18tundra has a great looking cement truck. Maybe he’ll post a pic or two as well.

I had the Cement Special Edition FJ and loved the color until we passed an Army Green one. Later I had the cement pro and loved it until the Army Green one came out. Now I’m the proud owner of the Army Green Pro and love it. I have absolutely no regrets.

Cement. Hands down, hands up, hands to the front, hands to the back, shake them side to side all day and all night, every day of the week, eight days a week, 24/7/365, forever and ever. Red fish, blue fish, no green eggs and ham.

Cement, cement, how beautiful you are in the bright sunlight, in the mountain moonlight, twilight and under the city lights. Cement, cement, Sam I am.

Or just pick whichever tickles your pickle, all else being equal. I thought I'd buy an army green with saddle brown seats, maybe I'm just being fickle.

Tomorrow will hopefully be our last day stuck in the house. A family of four with covid, we'd love to go out, just ask my spouse!

They are two of the best colors. I continue to get compliments on mine from strangers all the time. It holds up I well. I don’t wash it often and it always looks great. Both colors are non metallic and good with touch up paint when needed. Blends well.

I would ignore the color and get whichever truck is better or the better deal.

But I am bias and prefer army green now even though it wasn’t my first choice when buying the truck.

But honestly I could have easily gone AG and I think I'd be happy either way. The Cement hides imperfections really well, unfortunately it's also difficult to get that awesome post detail reflection you can get with darker colors.

Don’t think you will regret either. Coming from a black tundra I love that cement doesn’t look terrible when it’s dirty and looks amazing when it’s clean.
I color matched the interior of mine to get rid of the many shades is silver Toyota puts in them and the cement blends well with the interior.
I will mention that there are a few different shades of cement. Mine is lighter than some of the ones I’ve parked next to. Not a big deal unless you need touch up paint down the road.

Do you like black vehicles? To me AG has all the characteristics of a black paint. I had a 2011 trail teams FJ and although I loved the AG, it showed every swirl, scratch and speck of dust. Maybe that was me being obsessive with the cleanliness but yeah it was kind of a pain. Attached some pics of AG when clean and not clean

Toyota ran Cement for 4 years; AG only got the one year of Pro and then one year of other trims. You’re gonna get more people voting cement based on that alone.
I agree with this. Hard to keep absolutely clean. Probably why mine is dirty 95% of the time.
I’m kinda just messing with you, but that does strike me as odd. I’ve been following all the trailers people are pulling with their Tundras. Your Nash’s empty weight is like 5300 lb, right? Is it particularly front-heavy? I’m looking at trailers with a max GVWR of 7500 lb. I know tongue weights are generally higher than advertised because manufacturers typically don’t include things on the front of the trailer like batteries, propane tanks, and spare tires.

But I was thinking I can still pull a trailer around 6k loaded. Maybe I’ll find out that I can’t and will need to join you in the HD world.

I would go Duramax, too, if I did.

I don’t remember what the dry weight was on my trailer, but it has a GVWR of 7,500. I have 6,5xx over the rear axles right now. That’s full water (plus ~10gal between the black and gray tanks) and most gear, but an empty fridge and cabinets. I have a Li battery that I moved under my bed, but the bed storage and front compartment are still full of chit. My pin weight is just shy of 800lbs.

The Tundra will tow the weight. I had to make the engine work for it, but it could keep up under most conditions. I did have to watch the tranny temps closely on long climbs and I don’t think it could have towed over a mountain pass in the summer months without issues. The biggest problem was I was being over the rear axle capacity. And now that I have a longer and heavier tow rig, I am realized that much weight behind the Tundra was exhausting to manage.

All good stuff to know. I have been thinking that I can be within my axle limits (if a bit over GVWR) with a roughly 6k lb trailer and a properly set up wdh. I have lots of posts bookmarked of peoples camping setups.

We’ll see once I get a camper. That will be the deciding factor.
