Sugar and spice and everything nice. But yeah, this is her background, and this is more info on the breed. It's tough to say if she's full-blood or not, we rescued her from a puppy mill in Barrow County, GA where they bred her on her 1st heat, which I reckon probably stunted her growth, she's definitely stubbier than others we know. She has a few other males of the same breed she hangs out with, and shares all of the same behaviorisms. But the people puppy milling her had half a dozen other pure-bred female hound variants they turned in after pumping out their 1st litters so I can't help but think they wouldn't bother breeding her if she was mixed.

She had a lot of problems when we picked her up. ATL humane society fixed her while in heat (she was on her 2nd heat when we got her). They tend to be hackjobs with their neuter/spay at AHS, and she had complications, uteran stump infection. So she was touch and go for the first 3-4 weeks we had her, discharging all kinds of nasty shit out of her lady parts, it was ugly. She was probably 11-14mos old when we got her, she was past her puppy teeth, but hadn't started getting the characteristic browning adult dogs have, which she's showing signs of now (we've had her 4yrs).

She's the coolest dog but comes off fierce as hell with anyone she doesn't know. She would 100% attack someone who was a thread, and probably FUBAR them good. For example, when I'm play-fighting with the youngest, she runs in to break it up, STAT. She jumps fences with zero effort. Dog is pure muscle. I've got a few scars on my arms from when we're rough housing. I fully understand why the German brothers who introduced the breed to the USA brought them here to hunt bears. They're compact (she's ~60lbs) but have crazy dexterity with their hands, can splay fingers and slap, it's nuts!

Good pup. Probably one of the best dogs I've ever had, and we've rescued several, and bred when I was a young'un.

Tennessee Treeing Brindles and one other breed (Mountain Cur? EDIT: Nope, Hanoverian Scenthound is what I was thinking of) are actually pretty close in appearance and behaviors. Also great pups.

To me, every dog is "pup". A dog could be 15yo, I'm still gonna call it a pup. They're all awesome.

Awesome, I love our mutt Django, he’s a kid protector as well, it’s funny to watch.
My first year in big bear with the gang, my son found some other kids to do kid stuff with, and Django was on him like white on rice the entire time.
He’s cane corso, grey hound and Sheppard supposedly, got him thru a Toyota group of all places………

I'm ready for another dog. We put ours down in April due to cancer. Wife isn't quite up for it yet, but I'm thinking I might just show up with one lol.

TIL I want a Plott Hound.

Our Husky is determined to not die. She'll be 15 in November. It's crazy. She's like the person you stick in hospice expecting to say your goodbyes and then a year later you're shocked they are still around. She sleeps around 22 hours/day. She has no interest in spending time with us.

Someday it will be nice to have another dog that actually provides some companionship.

Gunner was the Goat. Damn kidney disease took him way too soon.

We rescued a stray plot hound, but due to how aggressive he is towards me he stays at my FIL house without any other animals. Actually a really sweet dog, but didn't take to domesticating with males or other dogs very well. Works out at FIL's place cause he's a bitch LOL. Super overprotective with my wife. That dog will stalk and hunt anything that moves it's actually impressive to see how 60lbs will size up just about anything.

Dealing with kidney issues with my cat Ringo…… he’s like 15, but he’s starting to turn south as of today, I found two pee spots in his normal eating/chillin areas:(

Thanks, and it comes at the worst time before a planned trip. So we’re gonna keep a close eye on him the next few days. Either way it’s not good if he can’t hold himself doing normal tasks…..
he has been one of the coolest cats I’ve ever had, a true homie, we’ve been thru a lot

I'm sorry to hear that. It's much more common in cats. I will warn you it is not a pleasant process for them or for you.

By the end, Gunner stopped eating and couldn't hold down water. It was really difficult and he hated taking his medicine which made it that much harder.

I hope you get some quality time with Ringo.

Thanks Erik. I also told my old lady to feel free to step in if I need a reality check, I’ve seen other friends REFUSE!!!!! To do something while the animal had a football sized growth on its front shoulder……… for over two years……

Ringo is no where near that, but I don’t want to do him wrong and let him just fall like that, fuck that’s hard

My family had to step in with me and Benni.
I was in denial and probably would have done everything I could to keep her alive.
We put her down about three years ago.
It was really hard on me. She was also 15.
I think @Mr.bee bringing puppy Polo (nameless at the time) to Jambo, just a few days after Benni's passing, really helped me through it.
I'll always appreciate those two characters.

I remember and I think I tried to gently say the same thing. Again that’s why I told her to call me out if need be.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
When I was 10 or so I was bit in the face by a neighbors dog. Lower teeth under my jaw, and a top k9 put a good gash just to the side of my eye. I was leary of dogs for a long ass time after that. Over that now though.
Now days when out in the field working, I just kneel down (lessen the threat-get on their level) and talk nice and genuinely want to greet them. 9 out of 10 come right in, and lean against me for some lovin. After they run off I'm left with a smile and a little happier in my day.
