    May 30, 2024 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 24V381000
Debris in Engine May Cause Stall
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

    NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000

Manufacturer Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing

    Components ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Potential Number of Units Affected 102,092

    Summary

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tundra and Lexus LX600 vehicles equipped with a V35A engine. Debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power.

    Remedy

The remedy is currently under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 15, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB07/24TA07 and 24LB04/24LA04.

    Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

    Lots of stuff!
Couldn't they just push the updated notices through the app? We would see them right away and not have to wait for snail mail and the second part to that is "it must have got lost in the mail"!

Not all of us are "we."
Not everyone is enslaved to their/any app.

    In any case:
    Someone above had it right.

I think these letters just went out today according to the website. They required to contact you by certified mail per NHTSA regulation.

I don't think that's true. I had a handful of safety recalls for various vehicles I owned for years, and they never came with certified mail.

Even the NHTSA document (Motor Vehicle Safety Defects And Recalls - https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/14218-mvsdefectsandrecalls_041619-v2-tag.pdf) explicitly states:

I think you misread my post.

The one I got from Toyota was a few months back and CLEARLY stated a remedy would be announced.

I misread your thread thinking you had received this NEW remedy letter which they previously stated would be in later

The Toyota letter is all over the forum and is like 80-90% same wording as your first post

I do not see that a date for the remedy letter is set.

This thread is about the letter Toyota stated they would mail by 7/15 on NHTSA's website. (See original post and link)
I don't believe anyone has posted this yet. That's what people are interested in reading. Thanks!

Educate me. What is the interest in this letter? "Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 15, 2024" says it's a hard copy notifying specific customers of the recall.

"A second notice will be sent once the remedy is available." will tell Toyota's solution.

There is no way that you got this letter "a few months ago" as the recall was only issued May 30, 2024.

@winchester44 - Even is someone is close to where these are mailed from, it is going to take a few days. And even though Toyota said it would be mailed by July 15, 2024, doesn't mean they were actually mailed on that day.

Also, they do not use Certified Mail for these letters, nor are they required to. They use regular ole First Class Mail.

Potentially true, However, probably not ideal to tell NHTSA a date, publish it then blow it off.

The letter has not been published nor received by anyone. It will basically be the recall letter but stated differently with additional information.

Ditto. Every recall announcement you can read verbatim on the Web before you get the letter.

I don't think this is the 7/15 letter to owners. This is June 3 letter from NHTSA to Toyota. However it does state the following which is the letter I am referring to.

Sorry, I think several of you are confused. I am looking for the 7/15 letter regarding the safety risk presented by this problem. I know some of you may be confusing that with the remedy letter which we are all clear will come later. I am looking for the 7/15 letter regarding the safety risk presented by this problem per the link in my original post. I think several of you are saying you don't care about the safety risk letter and owners should only care about the remedy letter. I understand this position. However, as a father who will be putting infant children in this vehicle I am concerned about the the safety risk more than the remedy letter. I don't think I am alone in this concern. Thank you for your understanding!
