Good news for you, however, very disappointed with the mother ship)

** We are sorry to interrupt your regularly scheduled program. A brief speech related to the OP’s topic is about to begin **

(Clearing throat, yes this is my first forum speech, and must remember to :) )

OP I’m irritated at Toyota and not with you, please remember this…

    If I may…(fingers quivering)

My 2019 Ram Limited,(new model year) 63 days in shop - new drive shaft, body mounts 2x, pass rear wheel bearing, and steering rack…lemon

If I wanted a new transmission and TC, I’d a bought a Ram.

My ’24 HV 1794 has the same symptoms w/3366 miles. Production numbers and profit, like all, trump quality. The reliability and durability of the ‘Toyota’ brand is long gone. Well, unless you buy a 1990’s 200k mile pickup.

Best wishes with the revised/updated transmission and TC. My shutter started on day one off the lot. I blamed erratic behavior on the (new) HV system and ECO mode, I told myself that’s just the way it is because in sport mode most of it disappears.

I’d be asking what was revised in the new trans and TC so you aren’t back in the shop in a couple months. Not the best position for you when it comes time to sell, unless you leased.

Forward thinking, leasing is probably the best initial path to protect the buyer. In the event you have a problem truck, it’s Toyota’s problem at resale time. You get a new truck and try again.

I’m a 15+ year, 9 vehicle Land Rover/RR owner. In that time frame, I had not one major failure. The worst included wheel bearings and upper/lower control arms - failed AC. Those were both on 92k 2008 LR3. A quarter of the 15 owned, were all over 100k miles when sold.

I moved to Toyota for the reliability and less expensive overall ownership cost.

At this point, I’m not headed to the dealer, I’m going to continue enjoying it. I guess I’ll stay in sport, burn gas, to reduce the ‘feel' of the issue at hand. It’s really bad in ECO mode…:(

I’m preparing for summer travels and towing my RV. I’m curious to see how tow mode or + (I think I’m + as I’m over 5k in weight) with the added weight, how it might change (improve) the dynamic. I’m towing 5k+, Blue Ox WDH, expect about 200lbs extra pounds in the bed, I need to research on the added weight of the WDH.

Kitting up the rig to hold ‘gear’. I installed new cross bars from Real Truck, no, actual quality thick metal bars. I'm very impressed with the look and quality. I’ll make a thread, as SantanaRealtruck, mentioned I was one of the first to adopt one. HD Universal Cross Bars RT292901.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program…

    Thanks for
    listening…

And you buy a new truck every couple of years. Toyota (or any other modern manufacturer) sees in cocaine dreams all their customers doing that.
Add 4-5 oz of Lubegard HFM to your transmission. If it cured the problem then WS fluid is too dull for the transmission shifts program. Other car brand I own was tuning standard Aisin transmission to have less noticeable shift, it wanted a special ATF full of slippage additives to protect frictions.

Ok. Final update. 2024 Tundra hybrid Platinum. Got the truck back yesterday. Spent a total of two months (since Feb 8th) at the dealer. Originally took it to Rochester Toyota in Rochester NH and they told me it was “as designed”. Could not believe that Toyota could make a truck with a junk transmission so I took it to Ira Toyota in Saco Maine and they said something is wrong. At first they replaced the transmission and torque converter. The problem was better but not fixed. The second round they replaced the electric motor and motor controller. Problem is gone.

So if you have a problem you need to keep hammering Toyota corporate till they assign a rep to handle your case, then EVERY TIME they call be nice and firm. Squeaky wheel gets the grease but being nice and respectful gets it done quicker. Request that you talk to the local Toyota engineer and again be firm but not an asshole.

Good luck. Toyota stands behind their product, that’s why we buy them.

Thanks for providing the update. Do you know whether or not "The second round they replaced the electric motor and motor controller" was the issue all along or did they say a combination of replacing the trans, torque converter along with the motors? Do you know exactly what electric motor and controller it was? Perhaps upload a copy of the report?

Cannot answer the first question. Like I said the transmission and torque converter made it better. As for the second question the motor and motor controller is the drive line unit. Basically they replaced the entire EV system except the battery.

I’m just at 10k miles and it’ still an issue. I haven’t brought this up to the dealer yet. I’ve towed about 4k miles (approximately 6,500lbs) so far and the truck still shutters with a load in tow mode or tow +.

I have a 2024 1794 Hybrid Tundra. It ran amazing when I got it. So much I got rid of 2024 Chevy ZR2. I have the same studder issue everyone is talking about. It is driving me nuts. My back cameras went out, but the studder drives me nuts. I took it in and they said it's normal for Hybrids. That is BS as Toyota would not release a driveline like this. I have almost 8,000 miles on mine and I will show the dealer this tread. We all spent a lot of money for these trucks and we should not have to deal with this. Please Fix it!!!

Ok. Here is my final post to the Tundra Forum. After 7 months trying to figure out why the truck shutters on acceleration I’m throwing in the towel. Toyota is buying back the truck. I have decided to peruse a Ram 2500. To everyone that owns a Hybrid and the dealership tells you that the shutter is a characteristic if the truck, don’t believe them and keep pushing. You will get what you want.

My gut feeling is it has to do with tuning/programing of the transmission/electric motor...

I am thankful for your guys info! I have the same shutter only on accelerating from roughly 30mph to high speed.

I find it when it’s early in the initial takeoff and the transmission is still cold. After it warms up, I don’t notice it.

I expect this to be something that a ton of us deal with but I don’t expect it to be anything major. Just like jproy12 says above, i expect it to be in tuning/programming.

And to finalize - I had a 2014 SR5 crew max 5.7 for 10 years and loved it but I have really settled into my new 2024 platinum (12,500 miles). I really like the new truck!

Shudder, I think I have the same symptoms. When it does shudder I feel like it wants to just shut the whole engine down.

I need to ride along with someone that has this issue to feel what it does. Is it something very noticeable? I've got 4k on my 2024 hybrid and I'm not sure if my truck has this symptom or not, if it does I may be thinking it's "normal."
Can you tell me how to replicate it to see if I feel it?
