Nice truck. Is that non vvti? RC scoot. I was messing around with my buddies 5.3 (not w new 10 speed- they are quick) and it was dead even. I need to pull into a truck scale.

I kinda figured id get my doors blown off.

I dunno what all you have for armor and bumpers, but those bits add up real quick. It's super easy to tack on 500lbs without realizing it. And taller tires will definitely sap the HP. I wonder if a non-armored RC with the small stock 245/70/16 tires could make the 5.3 sweat a little bit more? Swap in 4.10 3rd members and then you'll no doubt take him...all the while balding the rear tires. It would probably be better to do a 4wd launch so the rear tires don't break loose.

No armor yet, im actually welding sliders on tmrw. O i do have a rear pumpkin cover / armor. Something tells me the early rclb are sig lighter then dc. Either way were talkin two slow trucks , but i just expected him to pull away. The whole thing was funny. It was not in traffic or organized. I just saw him merging onto 95 and knew he saw me and we were both thinking same thing...(who's old truck is slower) im running 31's not sure about him. I currently have zero engine mods, sans K&N which actually makes it feel slower by a tick to me.

My Tundra is physically smaller *looking then his silverado.

Thanks man. It's got the vvti, and I agree the RCs are pretty quick for what they are. That along with the 5 speed auto helps with pep, but I think it's mostly the lightness (this was my main reason for going with the RC). Makes the most noticeable difference offroad imo. Almost all the trails I ride with my friends are sugar sand and getting to them is much easier with a lighter setup.

Haven't yet, would be interesting to see. Autoblog and Edmunds both say the curb weight for it is 4,550 lb... not sure how accurate that is but it sounds about right.

I did weigh the stock front bumper and crash bar when I took them off and I think those were about 50 lbs IIRC. And I think ARB bar was about 150. The tires I'm running are skinny 32s so a little extra unsprung weight there as well, matching spare adds some too... I was never able to tell a difference with how it drove, but you've got me curious what the actual number is.

Whatever is was add around 124Lbs for sliders.
I think my tires were 31.9 on the tire calculator. 20240304_172429.jpg

Hi guys, new to the FGT life and looking for some input. I’m shopping for rear leaf springs and am curious if anybody’s gone with the ATS HD springs and if so, how much lift you ended up with in the rear. Most everything I can find on the forums is for AC/DC trucks. Picked the truck up about 2 weeks ago and lucked out finding a camper shell locally that just needs some love after sitting in a neighbors yard for ~15 years.

Truck is an 06 V8 4WD and the build is shaping up to be Fox 2.5 DSC coilovers up front with SPC UCAs, Fox 2.5 RR smoothies in the rear, and I’m looking to go with a 285/70R17 setup for wheels and tires. Needing input on the ATS springs. Their rep said to expect potentially 2” of lift compared to ~1.5” they commonly see with the AC/DC customers but looking for real-world feedback and pics if available.

    Thanks in advance!

I would expect almost identical results as an AC, since the RC is so close in nature. I got damn near a full 2" on my 4WD AC. I expect you'll get the same. Even if you get a little more than that - ¼" or something, for example - you'll be able to dial in your preferred rake with the 2.5 DSC's.

That said, what's going to be more important is kicking the caster way forward. Don't use the stock-ish setting SPC recommends. Also, don't spend SPC dollars, buy the Eibach UCA kit, which is SPCs in an Eibach box. (It's what I have, and cost me $300 / 30%) less. Don't forget extended swaybar links.

33s are a lot of meat. Nice cap!

This ad was what pushed me off the "find a cheap car to take the DD duty pressure off the old Tacoma" track, and onto the "replace the Tacoma with a Tundra" track. Even though they'd cause a little inconvenience to my lifestyle, regular cab pickups have always been my favorite. Just really looks and feels like a truck.

    IMG_0032.jpg

If anyone is up for a potential frame swap, you should really check out this truck. Billings is about 3.5 hours away from me. I called the dealer and asked about the frame. "Yeah it has rust". Is it just rust, or rot? "...It's got some rot..." Also, he turned me off by saying something like "I don't see why people like these trucks". Or maybe he just didn't want to sell it to me? Kind of doubtful. The price has dropped from the $7,999 on the windshield to $5,999. If it was close enough for me to swing over and take a close look and a test drive, depending on the frame condition, it'd be really tempting.

The fact that it's been up for a month and hasn't sold, at that price and mileage, has to mean something...

Thank you, no updates. I have yet to install suspension or due the exhaust. Life went ...life on me. She is running great and I love the gears. The 3.91 are too tall in my opinion. I think they threw in 3.91 for the LEV MILEAGE thing. They work great for 80% of driving but off road or under 60 mph it feels much more appropriately geared with 4.30 gears. Also , the ARP locker has been reliable with no issues . Probably overkill and a unneeded purchase but it really helps traction up and down hills and no more worry of getting stuck in a small swale due to lack of suspension travel. Its overkill for 90% of what I do with truck. The gears actually get me about 1mpg increase per Fuelly calcs. Pretty sure im picking up a AP1 S2000 This weekend not sure what the future is for the truck. Work schedule has hampered my overlanding, camping possibilities. I am 50/50 on posting truck for sale. .. but i might not be able to let myself part with it. Ive dropped some coin into it the 3 years ive owned it. If/when i do more mods I will document on here. I have a bunch of parts for it awaiting install.

I have a 2006 dc 2wd and a 2004 4Runner with the 4.7 and the 4Runner feels much smoother and quicker. Not sure if it’s the gearing but may be worth a look

Not sure if that was response to me. After owning a few 10 second cars I cant consider any Tundra quick. I agree with smooth part. 4 runners are more geared for comfort. Tundy-work and comfort. Imo

Years ago I posted my green 2006 in this thread, that was before I repainted it. Here are my 2 Tundras. The white one is 2004 and the green one is 2006. Both are V8 and 4x4. Stock suspension on both. I run LT265/75R16 Open Range tires on both trucks and they don't rub. Billstein 4600 shocks all around on both. I have repainted and debadged both trucks. I don't want anything but RCLB trucks, they suit my needs perfectly.

Nice twins. Those are probably my favorite two colors offfered. Yes, the RCLB'S are not the best at people hauling ,but they have the best payload and towing ability. Screenshot_20240918_213400_Brave.jpg

What kind of bed rack is that? Does it protect window? Nice clean truck you got there.

Hey all. Update: I found a topper off an old T100 (can you believe it was the right color) and it has served me well over the past year or so. I built a custom prinsu-style roof rack to further increase its utility.

Now, I'm planning to part ways with it to make room for my next project: a pop-up camper.

I had a hell of a time finding this one, so I wanted to put it out there for any other RCLB owners looking for a bed cap. Selling the combo for 1k. Would be open to selling the topper and roof rack separately. Plenty more details on the work I've put into it, but I'll spare y'all to keep this post short(ish). PM for more details!

Is the T100 topper a perfect fit on a first gen RCLB?

Yeah my understanding is the T100 shared the same bed with the 1st gen. It's a great fit, I'm pleased with it. Mine is an ARE.

Does it also fit the contours of the back of the cab?
