Re-creating the lost thread about the latest released version 2170 for Tundra Infotainment.

This version should be available to all trucks via OTA update. Some users reported not being able to update though. This issue is supposedly fixed in version 2170

The TSB-0012-24 Was revised in June 12 to the 2170 version.


Version 2170 software update includes the following improvements:

• User interface design.
• Intelligent assistant.
• Navigation lane guidance.
• Phone book search.
• Bug fixes.

The following conditions and performance improvements are addressed with this head unit software update in version 2170:

• Add Exit Apple CarPlay® HMI enhancement (a dynamic resize button that shows or hides the Toyota menu)
• Unable to connect to wired Apple CarPlay®.
• Unable to connect to wireless Apple CarPlay®.
• Combination meter compass and HUD compass freeze during Apple CarPlay®,Google MapsTM or WazeTM.
• Combination meter does not show Apple CarPlay® navigation arrow guides.
• Apple CarPlay® screen closes when closing weather screen.
• Apple Iphone® to combination meter communication.
• Apple CarPlay® system enhancements and updates.
• Apple Music® error screen.
• Apple Music® create station inoperative.
• Text is cut off from Apple Music® screen.
• The previous screen is not retained when navigating through Apple Music®.
• Apple Music® artwork missing.
• Apple Music® user interface refresh (“Listen Now” instead of “For You”).
• Apple Music® system enhancements and updates.
• Android AutoTM disconnects.
• Unable to end and accept phone call during Android AutoTM or Apple CarPlay® phone calls.
• Android AutoTM Call does not unmute.

I had a bit of trouble after the update, but figured out I had to re associate my key fob, and it cleared everything up. It asking me about a PIN, adjusting the seat and not connecting right away.

I will repeat my request to the Mods. The ".gov" links for Recalls and TSB's should be created as a sticky. The .gov links are not in conflict with Toyota Corporate Policy or expose the owner(s) of this Forum to Legal consequences. Ryanwgregg is gone but the need to share Toyota Recall and TSB notices via .gov links remains. Please consider the value this provides your users.

 

I was told that Toyota is aware of issues with the March updae and a new update would be coming mid to late summer.

 

I remember a thread, maybe one of the deleted ones, where people weren't able to remote start with the fob without the subscription. I tried for the first time since the update and my fob will not remote start the truck any more (out of subscription). Yes, standing beside the truck so in range.
Is this part of the update or a quirk created with the update?

 

No as long as you have any active subscription the Fob works for remote start. There is a 10 Year trial for safety connect which counts. Once that 10 year trail expires or you opt out of it, then the DCA module shuts down and remote start with the fob is not possible.

If you opt out of the Connected Services Master Data Consent that shuts down fob remote start.

 

To check if the fob will work for remote start. On the Toyota app, Where it says Remote Subscription Expired, tap on Renew Subscription then on the next screen make sure there is at least one Trial Services listed. (if none then there is no active services so the fob wont work)

If that checks out then on the home screen of the Toyota app, tap on the person icon at the top left and then tap on "Account" Then "Data Privacy Portal" and after a few seconds check under "Data Consents" that "Connected Services Master Data Consent" is accepted.

 

My HU updated to 2170 today

 

Yeah it appears 2170 is rolling out, however without access to TIS I have no idea of the current TSB or release notes beyond what the unit displays. In 3 months when it shows up on NHSTA we can see what they officially say about this version.

 

It appears the 2170 version is part of the same TSB, Toyota updated it on June 12th. The OP was updated with the notes from the Updated Revision. It will still be a few months before the NHSTA one is updated.

 

The issue with the March 2024 Update is that it did not update all the things it said it did, mainly the CAN software. CAN 1040 was released but the OTA update did not include it. It had to be done manually at a dealer utilizing the USB method with a download from TIS.

 

I like the HU software update (2170) as I can see both the Toyota apps and Apple CarPlay apps on the LH side of the screen. However. Pressing the ‘home’ button on Apple CarPlay previously would bring up Siri, and I could ask her to text or play a song… not anymore. Frustrating this wasn’t found in Toyota’s black box testing for the firmware updates.

I kind of get the feeling that 2170 was mainly a hot fix out of cycle release. We probably won't see any further up date till next year.

 

I got into the truck yesterday and the update was available.......update complete but there are no obvious changes for AA that I could see. System rebooting itself randomly is still there.

 

Unless I'm misunderstanding the wording, this below from the TSB seems ridiculous from a security perspective



Who in their right mind doesn't secure their wifi with a password?

 

That is describing a Captive Portal, much like a hotel uses. It is not describing an Open Network.

And plenty of Guest Networks are open, but require acceptance of a usage policy.

I just got the update and was hoping for the new visual bells and whistles that 2170 was supposed to bring but it only updated Navigation and Voice Recognition. Well poo

 

I tried to update today, and I'm not sure it worked. I do see the HU SW updated to 2170 but that's it and I keep getting this message flashing on my screen.

 

I'm now getting that error after updating yesterday. Smfh

 

I am trying to do a USB update, but it says, "Software Update File is being requested" for over 10 minutes. Not sure it's working.

 

After several hours of "software update file is being requested" the message came up that "your system is up to date".

 

I loaded the update to 2170 yesterday. I like the Toyota toolbar on the left while using CarPlay, but I don’t like how CarPlay switches to Waze even when I am using Maps if I swipe to the CarPlay home page. I removed Waze and now it stays with Maps. It’s strange how it seems like it has set Waze as the default Nav app you would think it would use Maps by default.

 

This same thing happened to me as well. Why is Waze always defaulting to the current map. I like using it for navigation but don't need it always running when I am NOT using it. Drives me crazy....

 

And then when you get out of the truck and walk away you have to kill it on your phone or it will drain your battery lol

 

…so this mysteriously fixed itself and now Siri works when holding the ‘home’ button. No complaints thus far now that this is resolved.

 

I have a 22 tundra here in Canada and I have not been able to update HU software since 1040 a year ago . “No updates available “ I have gotten the Cannot update software with error 101 a few times . Even reset the unit twice . Now when I insert blank usb it doesn’t even let me download software version on usb.
