I use it mainly for more visibility with all the Snow Flakes... er Snow Birds driving around here. The guys at Toyota loved it on my first Oil change after I first bought it... and last oil change freaking idiots. Very visible when turning as well and hazards

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
Oh that's cool that it plugs into the 4 pin, makes it easy for the mechanically challenged.

I came into the thread thinking it was for a real light bar, because people around here like to drive with the high beams on and I thought this would be a great message conveyor.

Just my thought on these. Besides the fact it’s not my style, they are super common where I am. I’m in a city where probably 80% of vehicles are trucks, so there are a lot of these type of bars. They often have burnt out leds and look like garbage.

I don't like high beams in my mirror and I would not recommend doing that behind me...

May I recommend the use the Putco Blade! Works on all modes stop turn tail and glows white in reverse and enhances the visibility on the reverse camera and it is plug an play! Last one I had was still working flawlessly 20 years later. Call putco to get the right length . I put in reflector tape on first then like on the side of a tractor trailer then installed the blade on top of this. Hope this helps. smileytn1

If you’re just looking for a bright backup light, I highly recommend the Morimoto Backup Light. My previous ‘18 F150 had a backup light about as bright as a candle. This thing installs on your license plate mounts. I hard wired it into the trailer light harness. Very bright, hardly even noticeable when it’s off. And a very high quality aluminum frame.

Sorry to bump this old thread but PLEASE tell me where you got this. I deeply desire it. Also what happened to the third brake light?

My taillight kit came with clips that I mounted them too so IF a spare is needed it just pops out them back in. I have removed my spare three times in 6 years, first to replace stock with a 35”, then to remove the 35” for 37’s that do not fit so no more issue… for me

Well the answer to that is yes… sorry I looked for a while (forgot the name) and copied the site and apparently forgot to paste or I got an error that I did not see like I did this time, had to do it twice so let’s see if it works

The tailgate light was cake and the third brake light is always fun dropping the rear of the headliner

The only part that makes me hesitate. I've never messed with headliner before, just don't want to break anything or incorrectly reinstall it. Headliner sag would kill me

I installed the OPT7 3row paralux led in red under my tailgate using the plug and play harness. I used the Tacoma version sold online via Amazon. Total kit was like $120 shipped. Works and looks great. Used the clips so I can maintain assess to the spare tire drop hole if needed.

Actually simple if you take your time and don’t rush. Mainly true for any project but things to remember

    1) Keep your hands clean the entire time, unless you like stained headliner
    2) you are only dropping it enough to get tools in there so not like you are taking the entire headliner down
    3) use magnetic tools to help not drop any hardware

    Plenty of videos out there

Does the tailgate touch the light bar when it dropped? I remember someone mentioned this issue somewhere here.

nope - no clearance issues at all. I used the clips and not the adhesive and even then there is no interference.

I did the exact same last week. The 2 pc. Tacoma version ends up looking good back there. OPT7 is having a Halloween sale right now too. Might end up slightly cheaper than buying from AMZ.
