That's a bummer. You have other prospects to replace it?

Nah, not yet. I feel like I rushed this one a little bit and wasn't as thorough as I typically am, because I've been working with their neighbor on volunteer stuff for the better part of a decade and he vouched for them being good people, so I just took everything at face value. I did give the car a good looking-over, got underneath it, test drove it (how I knew the shocks were shot and idle was a little rough sometimes), but when I had it in my hands, the worms came out of the woodwork on just how much there was to do. Thankfully, there wasn't any fight in taking it back, I think they genuinely felt bad the shop didn't actually fix the issue, and it popped on me too within 24hrs.

So, just licking wounds now. And setting up returns for the myriad of shit I'd purchased in the last 24hrs (probably about $800 in parts) to work on it with the kids. $200 of which I'll need to re-sell (wheels) to recoup dollars. Thankfully, I didn't pull the trigger on struts for all four corners, nor TPMS sensors. Meh.

    What a shitshow.

A private seller just gave you your money back for a used vehicle that was sold as-is? Is that what you mean? That's crazy to me.

Sorry that you had such a crap experience with it. Hopefully you find something good to replace this lemon.

Indeed. I was actually surprised also. I think she felt guilty, she genuinely thought it was fixed, and screwed up the paperwork making a title transfer difficult as shit. But again - known entity in the neighborhood and someone I will run into again, so I’m also not surprised. Benefits of buying local.

True. I always seem to fly/drive then drive back. I think the last car I bought local was 2017.

I'm definitely pushing mine to the 9 year mark. He posted more pictures in the comments and the backside was fine too.

Yeah I’m quite certain you can get a full 10yr/100k miles, honestly. And I’ll probably do so with mine. I do need to check condition of mine.

That’s the law in this state. If a vehicle can’t pass inspection or has a major flaw found in the first 30 days, the seller has to eat it.

Yes. Happened to a friend of my brother who sold a transam to someone who ended up smoking the transmission. He refused to take it back, but the judge made him after he was taken to court.

RIP. I loved my first gen crv. Super reliable. had 230k when I sold it. Bought it for $1k, sold it for 1.2k the only thing I ever did to it was a tie rod end and oil changes. Oh and a 10" sub

    I've made a mistake.

i thought, "gee willikers, i'd like some jalapeno chips to dip in ranch"

threw some in the dehydrator, and rocked my world. Even deseeded, its like it superconcentrated the capsasin.

    IMG_8003.jpg IMG_8005.jpg

Also dehydrated some basil. For the s&g's

Your first picture was just a spring pack plus the OEM bumpstop. That looks to have some sort of +4 leaf add-a-leaf pack (possibly Icon brand). The OEM pack has three leafs then a huge overload at the bottom. You have the OEM leafs, then an AAL pack. It looks like you're missing the stock overload spring, or it's been modified.

The extra four leaves under the OEM pack may be a "bastard pack", instead of an AAL pack that is sold. Search those on the forums here. Those are pretty much old spring packs that have been torn apart, then fused or added on to the OEM pack. I made my own bastard pack so I still have "lift" in the rear with the amount of weight I carry full time.
