I had heard adding a K&N cabin air filter would increase airflow at the vents.

My 2024 crew max limited has ridiculously poor airflow compared to my 2015, so I decided to give it a shot.

I sent the temp on low and fan speed on auto. Outside air temp was 89 degrees.

I used a Kestrel 1000 wind meter, had the front and rear vents all wide open, and measured at the right driver side vent. I placed the wind meter on the windshield wiper control so it would be the same distance from the vent for all the measurements.

With the factory cabin air filter, I averaged 8.6 MPH at idle and 9.0 MPH while driving at approx 40 MPH

The K&N filter averaged 9.1 MPH at idle and 9.6 MPH while driving at approx 40 MPH.

In addition to the faster air flow, it felt like there was a larger volume of air flowing too. It wasn’t much, and no where near what my 2015 was, but it was noticeable.

Keep us posted on long term use. I’ve always been concerned with dust in cabin and what may pass through the K&N vs a paper filter. My AC just doesn’t seem to cut it. I’m all in on something that will provide more air flow, but at the same time limiting dust and allergies. I have terrible allergies.

agree with the improvement in airflow

Someone on one of the Tundra FB groups replaced the blower motor with a brushless version from a lexus vehicle. I guess that really increases the airflow.

As posted above, it is the K&N VF2080. I bought it direct from K&N on sale for $39 with free FedEx shipping.

Just got home from a trip on the highway. My son was a passenger and asked me to turn the A/C down. I asked why and he said it felt colder than normal. He did not know I had swapped filters.

I’d like to know the Lexus part number for a blower swap. You can never have too much airflow in Texas summers.

I’ve used them for the last 4 years. My allergies don’t notice a difference. It definitely increased the air flow.

I’d be interested in the Lexus blower as well if anyone finds out the PN for it.

Might be worth trying out for $80 ish. I’d like to see temp at the vents from before and after. Someone may have posted that in that group but lots to dig through.

Has it been confirmed the OEM Tundra motor is not brushless?

I might have to do some scientific testing with the tundra blower vs the Lexus blower. I use a calibrated anemometer at work to verify our flow benches.

There is a blower upgrade post. The brushless did produce a little more air flow. Ot a lot but some.

The guys that did it made it sound like that was the difference between the two. Brushed for Tundra and brushless for Lexus. I’ll probably go OEM if I can find the for sure correct part number as well as a discount.

87103-30451. It’s pretty expensive for the oem.

Not familiar with K&N cabin filters. BUT I do know K&N engine air filters are good for stopping large bugs and small birds from being ingested into your engine. Also great for contaminating mass airflow sensors.

:D This never gets old, Literally ever time someone mentions and oiled filter. I've run them in all my cars over the years and never once had to clean the MAS. Funny Toyota sells an oiled filter that maintains warranty.

I had the trd filter in my 2016 and never really had an issue with MAF, but I always cleaned the MAF every time I cleaned the filter.

I just recently replaced the cabin air filter with one from the dealer. I was shocked by how cheap and thin the filter pleats were. How is the K&N providing better air flow? Usually better filtration means less air flow

The OEM filter did look paper thin. I used to use WIX on my 2015. This is the first time I’ve changed the filter on my 2024

Yeah, $250+ at a quick glance. Too much for my blood unless I hear it is worth it for sure. I may try to search a bit harder for it tomorrow. See if some dealer is selling it cheaper.

lol….a used oem cabin filter airspeed vs. a new oem one would probably yield a .5mph difference.

IMG_1741.jpg Anyone know the part number for the cabin air filter cover that snaps on? Two of my clips snapped while changing. Gotta be careful with those small plastic clips. Here’s a pic.
