Hello, just an update on my tire swap for my 2021 TRDpro Tundra. The truck came with Nitto Ridge Grapplers, 275x65x18. They are nice, look awesome, however 99 percent of my driving is city, and with rain coming..(Florida) I needed something more practical. That being said I did notice tire noise, at various speeds, mpg was as expected ranging from 12.5 to 15.3.
After some due diligence I decided on the Michelins Ltx ms. Not an aggressive tire by any means looks wise but refined. The ride I have to admit is legit, smooth, QUIET, grippy and confident.
We do have a winter cabin an although these should do ok I may swap to the michelin ATs. Mpg fyi was 16.5 on a 50 mile trip with new tires so def better mpg. Pedal Commander comes today!!!

I have Michelin LXT MS on my truck w 20k miles on them and happy w their performance and ride. Just had them in the snow/ice this weekend and they work well, I used 4x4 once offroad. Ride well on highway and very little noise.

That's good to hear, we go to our Cabin during the Christmas holidays. Western North Carolina gets cold, and light snow. Nothing crazy like Midwest but enough to consider options. Paths to some of the hiking trails also have some rough roads that beat up our Grand Jeep Cherokee, so I'm looking forward to taking the trdpro there...now if I can only lessen the wind noise...I'm going to try the dshape seal trick.

I have the (Defender) LTX MS in a 295 LT tire. Really like it.

I had the michelin defender LTX tires on a 2500 Dodge diesel and got around 80,000 miles out of each set with no issues. I just wish they would add the slightest aggressive looking off-road tread.

You may not want to switch out them for the AT’s when going to you cabin OP…

The Michelin AT2’s are an excellent tire but the LTX outperforms it in many categories. The LTX significantly out punches it’s class in wintery conditions (not snow tire level). I would argue that they perform far better than most AT tires in light to moderate snow especially when the temperature’s really drop. They are incredibly pliable when cold compared to other brands IMHO.

My family and I have used LTX’s for light off-roading (hunting trails, ETC, ETC) and never had an issue. Will they slide more…yes absolutely but they always find grip.

The LTX MS/2 that came in the P255/70R-18 for the steel wheel OEM size work great but their tread life isn't so good. It might be the narrower width causing extra squish, I'm not sure. Pops has the 275/65 Defender LTX with 50k miles and they still have a ton of tread left.

    My 255s with 26k miles

Do u have a photo of those on your truck? Did u need to lift or add spacers? Really debating on that size.

Good to know thanks brother. After 1k on these I can really tell the difference in ride and gas mileage, avg 15 around town. Hit 18 mpg avg last week!

The Defender LTX in LT E-rated has water channels broad and deep enough to hold the Nile.

@ sundog - what wheels are those? How far do they stick out? I have the rock warriors on ltx's because I want them sitting inside the fenders but have never seen aftermarket wheels with a set of LTX's. Yours looks great.

For the Op-I've been running Mich LTX tires for 20 yrs. NEVER had one pop or go flat, or get punctured by rocks. I'm in AZ where summer temps are crazy hot and go up north in higher elevation where temps can get to single digits. All I worry about on these tires is when to replace them. I stick with 5 yrs and still have so much tread left and minimal dry rot.
20+ yrs ago, I used to buy whatever Discount Tire recommended and used to get flats and blowouts frequently, even with new tires. Never again.

Just a follow up on my tires, they performed incredible in the Blue Ridge Mountains, mainly gravel roads to our cabin. One caveat is the tires love to grab onto then throw the rocks. They get thrown for miles on end banging against the truck once on smooth road. One rock came up and hit the front windshield so hard I thought it cracked it. So far about 12k miles on tires still look new.

P1ayn-that is odd. I get the occasional rock fling but its minor vs bfg's I tried yrs ago. Those are like listening to a pin ball machine when driving on a dirt road. What psi are you running? I have E rated and mine seem fine when running 35-40psi & 50psi for my winter toyhauler setup.

I ran at the normal 35 to 38 psi, it was cold so it varied. The gravel up the mountain to our Cabin was the perfect size to wedge in the tires. The tires would fling those bad boys all over the wheel well with the occasional exit to the side in turns. The real problem was downhill, collecting the gravel, then once transitioned to pavement all hell broke loose. One came up hit my front windshield and landed smack on the hood, about 1/2 inch in size. Other than that they are awesome tires, great quiet ride, excellent in wet conditions and good in light snow.

Well that sucks! I forgot to mention my tire size in case that affects things. Im running 285/70/17 but I think it depends on the type of gravel. Some gravel has that perfect size pebbles that gets caught in the tires. My wife's 4runner has the same tires but in smaller size and both vehicles just do the occasional rock fling. But the grooves in hers are definitly tighter/smaller in width.

I went through some nasty dense snow for the first time with these tires this past week and they were pretty great. It was eight to ten inches deep of that heavy instant snowball crap that feels like it's going to snap the brush when trying to get it off the truck. The roads weren't plowed and I had a couple miles where there weren't tracks yet and they didn't skip a beat. Even when I stopped at an intersection the truck had no issue moving again without spinning or needing to back up to get a run at it (in 4wd of course).

Once the roads melted and refroze into ice they were less great. They slip on that like any all season

275/70r18 Cooper AT3 XLT on SCS Ray 10s, Eibach Coilovers, DD 12" Exhaust, AJT Blackout Kit, Truxedo Pro X15, paint match/chrome delete.
Looking at this tire to replace my Cooper XLTs (275/70/18). Had these on my old Dodge 2500 and they were great.
Do you have any rubbing with the 295/70/18s? Did you have to modify anything for these to fit?
I'm on Eibach coilovers set at about 2" front and CB shackles in the rear with RAS system, so about 1.5".
Same wheels as you, and I already pushed my front fender liner up to fit the current tires, but not sure there's room for another .5" of tire.

    Your truck looks great BTW!

    Thanks

Only rubbing I had was the small ear on the drivers side skid plate at full wheel lock. Some cut that part of the skid plate off. I believe I just bent mine and called it a day (until I went with an aftermarket skid plate).
