That is my point as well. A lot of folks that jack rabbit drive will be happier with the 6.2L

If you do a nationwide auto trader search for new Land Cruisers there are 2,735 listed.

Nothing new reported on the pinned engine failure thread. There is also nothing new on what I’ll call ‘Ryan’s google doc’* in at least a couple of weeks either. The three 24’s have been on there a few weeks. Link here.

On the one hand, the dumpster fire seems a few weeks old and part of the echo chamber. On the other hand, Toyota noted 824 failures back in May… the google doc only has 101… three months later. I do think there is some trolling going on however. At least ‘Ryan’s sheet’ asks for a VIN.

*I believe Ryan yelled from the rooftops ‘THIS IS NOT MY SHEET!’ Many times. ‘God bless.’.

    O, I see.

not sure why it would be surprising for recalled trucks to be failing at this point, I mean , thats why they are recalled.

He said the allocation sheet wasn't his, but the failures sheet is most definitely his and has always claimed it to be so

It like hitting the 'bad' lottery /// would be interesting if they were all in one or two states.

I'm still a little surprised when I'm at my mid-sized dealer they only have 1 they are working on. The lot isn't stacked up with dead tundras waiting for motors. When the final story is written it will be interesting to see what % fail and other specifics. For now, we'll just have rely on Gen 3 guys, Facebook and TikToc for input. Maybe we can get some WeChat to cover the Chinese owners.

I find it interesting that the failures are only showing up in masses on Facebook. People are saying 3-4 post per day of failures on the Facebook page only. Seems fishy. Not saying motors aren’t failing but if we did 4 motors a day at one year that would be almost 1500 trucks that have failed. Surely some of them would be directed here and we would see way more failures being posted on this site as well. Everyone says to not believe everything you read online but when it comes to 3rd gen tundra failures every single post is 100% legit.

Are people being asked to fill out Ryan’s google doc in the FB groups?
Twelve since 8/1 is ‘only’ .64 trucks reported per day.

A bit but not nearly as much as when Ryan was active on FB. He just got back on recently so we might see a few more show up on it here and there.

I’m not on FB a ton, but I noticed about 2-4 a week posted in the group I am part of. More chime in via the comments but I just assume they were ones that have already posted their own on there.

    Thank you.
Even NHTSA only has 113 complaints- Here. They only have 7 complaints since 8/1. Of the 7, at least one is just a person saying they think their truck should be recalled but nothing has happened to it. One thing for sure is EVERYONE who has this issue should be asked to report to NHTSA. FB and this site don’t matter.

Did Toyota hire the old Dodge Ram executives and engineering team?

It used to be you either got a great Ram truck or one that was a lemon, no in-between.

Toyota used to be most, very close to all, were high quality. Now it's a bit of roulette with them judging from the issues posted in many threads.

The local dealership here isn’t huge but they’ve sold over 100 3rd gens and have not had 1 engine failure . Few turbos getting replaced and other odds and ends but not 1 engine .
It’s not easy moving forward from the trusted v8 . I purchased 5 Off the lot and never doubted if I was getting home from work , in any of them !! I was forced to buy new due to excessive rust in the engine bay. I leased one as a company work truck as well . They are both running fine with no engine issues . Replaced rear brakes on the 23 @20k kms but that’s it .
A wise man once told me “ if it’s got Tt’s , tires or tracks , you’re gonna have trouble ! Das life brothas :)

It is but if you look at 22 it’s the same list. It’s not the easiest site to interpret.

This thread really needs to die. It has gone so far off topic that it should be renamed "Men talking about truck related stuff".

Actually, I was incorrect above. 2022 lists 168 complaints. They are all over the place, not just failures.

That's my experience as well. When I worked for Honda of America many years ago they said a satisfied customer tells 1 person about his positive experience but a dissatisfied customer tells 16 people. Consider that when reading posts on social media.
