I had a Dr. do something like that. One of my many motorcycle boo-boos was a shattered wrist. I had a couple of pins that held it together in an X formation and stuck out of the skin. After healing I went to have the pins removed and the Dr. grabbed a pair of pliers. I asked him about maybe something to numb it first, but he said na, don't worry, bones don't have nerves. Maybe not, but the skin and muscle that the pins are also going through do. Hurt like a MFer.

That's how they took out my pins when I broke my wrist. Then they took a drill and pulled the pins for the external fixator out of the leg I had broken.

My most "enjoyable" pin reconstruction was when I shattered both bones in my lower left leg. They drilled through my ankle so the could insert a rod for leverage to pull the leg straight again, then go through the knee and drill out the Tibia and cram a 2' rod inside it. It was actually more painful when they went to take it out months later, breaking the knee open again and I guess it was stuck, cause they crushed the top of the pin with pliers trying to pull it back out. I still have the pin.

If that counts then there's a whole thread of vasectomies that would also count. Heck, you could get one and be a double amputee!

Nerve blocker is unfortunately about gone. Pain starting to kick in. Wife was sweet and went and got me a nice back/neck pillow to support me better when sleeping

Rub some dirt on it. :boink:

I've been able to avoid surgery so far, and I hope to continue the trend. Everyone has different pain tolerance levels, but everyone I know who has had surgery always says it sucks. Degree of suck varies from person to person, but it's always suck or one kind or another. Focus the pain on something constructive if you can. It'll help if there's an outlet so you don't pop your cork if one of the dogs/kids/wife bumps the arm or something... another thing that always seems to happen after surgeries.

    You got this man. :fistbump:

Ya I take advil as needed and have only had one oxy.
The pain tolerance is what got me here in the first place. Felt it, and kept pushing through and then continuing to train hard on it.

Funny thing, I broke my dominant (right) wrist in college and started using my computer mouse and doing a number of daily tasks with my left hand. I never went back to a right handed mouse, and find it convenient to this day to have some higher dexterity in my non dominant hand. Who knows, might be a silver lining to your ordeal!

I’m telling work on Monday my emails will only be via phone and short at that as I cannot type on a keyboard ..I mean I can, but a normal email from the laptop, what would take me 30 seconds, would easily be 10 mins with one finger typing lol

Speaking of injuries and amputations, I came close to cutting off my index finger when I foolishly was cutting toward myself with a box cutter when it slipped cutting 3/4 through my finger. I knew I was in big trouble when I instantly got dizzy and nauseous and couldn't move my finger. Ended up needing surgery for a severed tendon and now only have about 70% total movement after all these years. Tilly's tip of the night, never ever cut toward yourself with anything sharp.
