I did an oil change Friday night on my truck. I've had it less than a year and the dealer did the first one.

Anyways when I pulled the aftermarket aluminum cap, it didn't have the center support tube in it. It was 7:30 pm, so I ran to Oreilly's and got the dorman replacement since that is all they had.

Now I've been reading up on it and am wondering if I need to change it out for an oem. Or am I good to roll with it? It was made India, I know the older ones were made in China... (If that matters.)

    It is not leaking. Thoughts?

Dorman’s are hit and miss. The oem seems to always be a hit. You can get oem for $30 on Amazon. Seems like a no brainer for piece of mind.

Did the Dorman have the center tube with it? If so, swap that tube into oem cap.

The oil cap that was on the truck was already an aftermarket one. I did put the correct tube in the dorman unit.

The Dorman cap comes with 3 different size center tubes. Wanna make sure the long one is being used.

Yep, I work in a shop where sometimes the need arises to replace the filter caps. Dorman to the rescue! Haven't seen any issues or comebacks with the dormans. As stated above, use the long tube, double check your o ring placement and snug it up! Good to go man!
