How do you guys feel about jet hot coating the exhaust prior to install?? My local powder coater offers it.

I am not a fan of powdercoating anything. I've never had powdercoat that didn't rust and peal in sheets (no idea why it's so popular -- looking at you RCI...)

I’ve never coated a cat back but I have had a few sets of headers sent to jet hot and coated. Not real certain why you’d want to coat the cat back. Headers are usually done to keep the heat inside and out of the engine bay.

Powder coating on my skid plates and wheels are both holding up very well. Only one winter on them so far, but I know what you are talking about. I know that my powder coater bead blasts everything before coating. It seems he knows what he’s doing.

I’m interested to hear about jet hot coating.

Being 304 stainless, I expect it to last a while.

No coating needed. And I made this system with an x pipe sounds much better. These trucks have a weird sound to me. I may test a Z-pipe at some point lol

Welp, just ordered it. Guess I'll be finding out how loud it is with LT headers.

Curious about something with the dumped SPD.
How tight is the end of the pipes to your spare tire? I have a 285/75-18 stuffed under the bed, which has a radius about 1.5” longer than the stock tire. Is there a few inches to spare near a stock spare??

Brand new tire and wheel nicely tucked under there and I don’t really want to relocate it…

Plenty of room, like you’d be ok if it was two inches closer to the tire? That about where I’ll be.

    Same, same.

Still hoping to hear back from someone on how much room there is between OEM spare and the dumps. Gonna look pretty stupid with a 35” tire on my hood like an old Land Rover.

My vote is up on high on the roof. As high as you can put it. Maybe build a little tower for it to sit on. Centered where it’s hard for anybody to reach. From either side. But at an angle so it looks like you had to fit it around something on purpose. T’would look rad.

The hood mount would be legit. I’ll try and get a measurement tomorrow on mine. Honestly forgot about it earlier.

There’s about 3.5” between my stock spare and the tips.
